New Release, Cover Reveal, & a giveaway!

Published July 15, 2016 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Hello, my friends! I’m so excited! Today begins the blog tour for my new release and I get to announce a sale. Yes, you heard right. Cowboy Dreamin’ is the 8th installment in my Thunder Creek Ranch series and it’s available now. Also, Zakia and the Cowboy, book 1, is on sale this week for 99 cents.cowboydreami'.sm

Don’t you just love that cover? I know I do. 🙂 The Manning/Grayson clan is a family bonded together through love and hardship. I’ve enjoyed creating this series where the family protects its own. This is Jack Grayson’s story and I just know you’re going to love reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Warning: Sexual Content

Here’s the blurb for Cowboy Dreamin’…

Jack Grayson finished university and he’s ready to go home and take over the family spread. Allison Wakefield is the new vet in town. When they first meet, sparks fly and tempers soar. But their love grows when Jack helps Allison through a vulnerable time in her life.

When they are both plagued with vandalism, it quickly accelerates to attempted murder. Somebody doesn’t want them together. Can they figure out who has it in for them before someone gets killed?

Intrigued? Ready for a teaser excerpt?

“You’re good at what you do, and you have a love for animals. With some, it’s the love of money that drives them, whether animal or people doctors.”

“That is so sad, but unfortunately true in some cases. All I’ve ever wanted to be is a veterinarian. I do love animals.”

“Then how come you don’t have a dog or cat of your own?” Jack asked.

“I never knew where I’d end up. Mama always said that to move with a cat is bad luck and, as for dogs, it wouldn’t be fair to have one and have to keep it caged all the time. I work long hours.”

“Yes, I know.”

The speaker came on, and a disembodied voice informed them that visiting hours were now over.

Allison gathered up her bag and leaned down to kiss Jack before leaving. “I’ll be back to see you tomorrow after the clinic closes, barring emergencies.”

“I’ll look forward to it, but call first in case they let me out of here.”

“Will do. Night, Jack.”

“Good-night, Allison. Thanks for dinner.”

She smiled, kissed him good-bye, and left. Although she’d much rather have stayed with Jack, his eyelids were drooping and she figured he’d had enough company for one day. Other than all the bandages he was plastered with, he seemed fine.

Allison nodded and smiled at the security guard standing outside of Jack’s room. He hadn’t been there when she arrived. Probably because Michael had been. “Keep him safe.”

He smiled back. “That’s why my boss, Michael Grayson, called me here. That family takes care of its own.”

“So I’ve heard.”

During the drive home, Allison couldn’t help but wonder who had it in for Jack. Although she hadn’t known him long, she knew he was a kind, caring man. She just couldn’t picture him with enemies—unless one of his classmates was overly jealous of him. Hadn’t Winnie mentioned that he’d been valedictorian? That took a lot of smarts, but didn’t usually make enemies.

He’d had a tire slashed, his truck scratched, and now this. It really was a good thing that he hadn’t headed toward town. All those sharp turns…

She shuddered just thinking about it.

Jack loved that truck. Someone was hitting hard, and it had to be personal. If they wanted him dead, he’d likely be dead by now. Was all this a warning of some kind? No, cutting a brake line was more than a warning. Someone definitely wanted Jack dead.

And now the blurb for Zakia and the Cowboy…

With a stalker following her every move, Zakia has no choice but to flee the city. Her options limited, she runs to the only place she’s ever felt safe…the Thunder Creek Ranch and her ex-husband, Lucas.

Will he protect Zakia from the stalker? And if he does will either of them be able to ignore the feelings that have simmered for so long, ready to explode… before danger either draws them together or pulls them apart.

Cowboy Dreamin’ is 15% off at Evernight Publishing

It will be available at all online retailers soon.

Zakia and the Cowboy is only 99 cents at Evernight Publishing, and Amazon

I am so pleased to have London joining us today. It was my pleasure to be one of the first to read the manuscript for Every Single Part of You. What a fantastic read!  Here’s my Review:

Sara Holbrook is the dutiful daughter of a senator. She knows her place, never saying or doing anything that would cause her father pain, and had never deviated from the life her father had mapped out for her—until he’d decided who she was to marry. It was then she grew a backbone and walked out on him and her would-be fiancé.

Cross and Eryk are members of the band Cinder. Their first sight of Sara left them wanting more…much more. She joins them on the tour bus and finds out what being wanted and desired means to her as the threesome make love.

But trouble follows in the form of a crew member, Sara’s non-fiancé, and the Senator. Cross and Eryk vow to protect her forever, but in the end, it is Sara’s decision to protect them.

A lively, explicitly sexy, entertaining story guaranteed to get your juices flowing.

ESPoY Graphic1Blurb:

Our choices are rarely cut and dry.

Sara: As the daughter of Senator and presidential hopeful Jentsen Holbrook, I spent a good deal of my life under public scrutiny. What I wore. Where I went. Who I dated. It was just the way of things. I’d become what was expected of me, until I ran from my obligations and woke up one morning in Cross de Raven’s and Eryk Hale’s world, two hot guitarists from the mega-famous metal band, Cinder. For the first time, freedom to be myself was within my reach. And along with that? Inevitable scandal.

Eryk: True beauty walked into my life, more beauty than I ever deserved. I partied hard. Rocked harder. I wasn’t good enough to touch Sara’s petal-soft skin, hold on tight, or love her, but regardless of my bad boy ways, no one was going to stop me from trying.

Cross: Sometimes, no matter how hard we fight for what we want, love won’t save the day, and truth doesn’t always set you free. Then again… Maybe, just maybe, when you find the one you’ve been searching for, love can find a way.

and Audiobook coming soon!

Meet the Boys in the Band:

After a second encore song, the band exited the stage for the last time. I’d been so preoccupied watching Cinder perform for the previous couple of hours that I hadn’t thought of my father, Pierce, or the trouble I’d caused myself by leaving D.C.
I gave Briar a quick cuddle of gratitude.
My body buzzed. My ears had a strange sort of woom, woom, hum-thing happening. An odd combination of energy and weariness spread through my limbs as if I’d just run a marathon, though I still had a few more miles left in me.
Briar’s eyes were bright, face aglow. “I saw you shaking your thang during the last few songs. Was that the best show on the planet or what?”
“It so was,” I agreed.
“God.” She did a fist pump. “I can’t believe we’re going to the after party.” Briar grabbed her hair, lifted the long strands, and fanned the back of her glistening neck. “I’m totally going to hit up Fade for his autograph.” She dropped her hair and pointed to the girls highlighted by the low-cut shirt she’d worn. “It’s going here, and then I’m getting it permanently inked.”
I’m sure my eyebrows flew up into my hairline. “You’re seriously going to tattoo his name over your right breast?”
“Oh yeah. I am.” She gave me the once over, reaching for my shirt. “Unbutton some of these.”
“Hey!” I protested, swatting at her busy fingers.
“Be proud of those, babe, and show a little flesh.” Two of my button’s plinked on the floor.
So much for re-buttoning.
“That’s better,” she said, appearing pleased.
I glanced down to see a peek of my pale skin. Thankfully I wasn’t too indecent.
Briar had the whole badass rocker-chic thing happening with her dark, smudged eye-makeup, plaid school-girl skirt, and combat boots. And the looks flung my way pretty much confirmed I stuck out like a sore thumb as we were being herded in the direction of the after party.
Holding onto my hand, Briar took charge and tugged us through not one, but two security checks. My Donna Karan floral print blouse, tan capris, sweat-laden face, and blonde bedraggled hair separated me from the pack of other salivating women—and
men—begging to go where we were headed.
More crazy lights, bumping music, a bevy of voluptuous, half-dressed girls pole-dancing on a raised, slowly spinning platform greeted us as we walked through the door. More girls, wearing skin-tight, Unchained Chaos Tour shirts, and cheek-baring short-shorts served finger food and booze.
Briar snagged a beer from one of the passing booty-gals. “Here,” she said, shoving the drink at me.
I scrunched up my nose. “I’m not sure—”
“You’re letting loose tonight, chica.” She pressed the uncapped bottle into my hand. “Drink.”
Tentatively, I put the cool glass bottle to my parched lips and took a sip. I winced as the bitter brew coated my tongue. “Mm—no.”
“That’s not how you drink.” Briar took the beer from me. “Watch.” She tipped her head and chugged, wiping her mouth with the back of her wrist when she finished. “Now. You try.” Back came the half-empty beer bottle.
I’d never get any peace if I didn’t at least attempt to placate her, so I went for it, eyes clenched shut, trying not to gag as the cold liquid slid down the back of my throat.
A velvet-smooth voice tickled my ear. “Way to throw one back, angel face.”
My eyes popped open, and I tried not to choke while lowering the bottle.
“Oh my God, oh my God!” Briar squealed. “Cross de Raven. I’m such a huge fan.”
He winked. “Thanks, doll.”
The beanie and the mirrored shades he wore on stage were gone, freeing his black, shoulder-length hair, and displaying the features of his perfect male-model face, unleashing a devastating pair of chocolate colored eyes.
His gaze swung to me. “Are you a ‘huge fan,’ too?”
Heat spiraled up from the depths of my core and warmed my cheeks. “Uh. Um…” I took a breath. “Well—”
“This is her first concert,” Briar said while making moon eyes at him, saving me from being a monosyllabic moron.
Cross tilted his head and took me in, from the toes of my mini-wedges to the top of my head. “You don’t say.”
I just nodded and shifted from foot to foot, fidgeting like an idiot.
“Who ya got cornered here?” Eryk asked, strolling up beside Cross.
Briar squeed her delight and grabbed onto my arm, jostling the bottle I held in a death grip. “I’m Briar Scott,” she said, “and this is Sara.”
The strobe lights pinged off one of the metal rings in Eryk’s ear as he tore his steel-gray gaze from me and over to Briar. “Nice to meet you, Briar Scott.”
Another high pitched squeak fell from her pretty, plump lips. “You, too.”
“What do you say to joining us over there?” Eryk nudged his head in the direction of a plush grouping of leather chairs and a raspberry-colored, crushed-velvet couch where several people had started to congregate. Some bleached-blonde girl lifted her shirt and flashed her large, bare breasts at Fade when he walked in.
“Uh—” My mind and voice failed me. This was so much more than a new world. I’d entered an alternative universe.
“We’d be happy to join you guys,” said Briar, hip-checking me.
Eryk’s eyes flashed and one side of his sexy mouth quirked up into a crooked, sinful grin as he looked at me. “I promise.” He gently ran the tip of his finger down my cheek, causing goose bumps to riddle my skin. “We won’t bite.”
Cross held out a big hand for me. “Speak for yourself, Hale.” He gave me a bone melting grin.
On the inside, I swooned. On the outside, I gave him my proper, practiced smile before reaching out, feeling the warmth of his long, strong, fingers wrap around mine and sucked in a breath. I swear an electric current zapped up the length of my arm from where we touched and set off a chain reaction, causing the baby-fine hairs on the back of my neck to stand on end.
Eryk slung his arm around Briar’s shoulders, and she melted into his side as the four of us made our way through the energetic, loud gathering.
Apparently, I’d be partying with the rock stars tonight.

Kindle Scout…Last day!

Published March 24, 2016 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

It has been a totally hectic month! But today is the last day for nominations for my contemporary romance, Daydreams and Night Scenes. Every time I see the cover, I fall a little more in love with it. He’s so handsome and both models are so sensually pleasing to the eye.Daydreams and Night Scenes cover_TAKE 4

I do so enjoy all the beautiful covers on my books. I intend to revamp a few of them in the coming months, but first I need to finish Jack’s story for the Thunder Creek Ranch series while I wait on my answer from Amazon’s Kindle Scout team. I want to thank everyone for supporting me this month. Right now I’m sitting at 983 page views and 156 hours in Hot and Trending. Not too shabby. 🙂 I might just break one thousand before today is over. So thank you all very, very much.

Have a happy and blessed Easter weekend And I’ll be back with you again next week.

Kindle Scout…Only 3 days left to vote.

Published March 21, 2016 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

It’s cold and snowing here in southern New Brunswick but Daydreams and Night Scenes is Hot and Trending on Kindle Scout. WooHoo!!! I haven’t seen that since the 5th day of my campaign and it’s all thanks to you…my followers, my readers, my supporters, my friends.Daydreams and Night Scenes cover_TAKE 4

I know you’re all probably tired of listening (reading) about my campaign on Kindle Scout, but it’s almost at an end. It’s been a wild ride, I can tell you. I’ve blogged, I’ve twittered, I’ve shared on Facebook, in groups, on Google+, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. I’ve had friends RT and share. I even ran a fiverr campaign through Bookkitty.

To date, I’ve had 883 page views and I’m thankful for every one of you who took the time to read my chapter. It would be nice if all those views meant the same number of nominations, but I’m not that naive. I know my writing doesn’t appeal to everyone and that’s okay. I happen to write what I enjoy reading. Romance and romantic suspense, sometimes sweet, sometimes spicy–it works for me. The comments and support for my novel have been overwhelmingly complimentary. I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve given the campaign my best and if Daydreams and Night Scenes is not selected for publication by Amazon’s Kindle Scout, at least I know I tried. And in the process, I’ve created a month’s worth of advance publicity as I will surely self-publish. After all, I have this beautiful cover and the novel has already been professionally edited, so it’ll be live on Amazon within 24 hours if not selected. Although it would be nice to have the benefit of Amazon’s marketing and that $1500 advance. It might not be much, but just think of the books I could buy. 🙂

I may be a writer, but I’m also a reader. I have a 15 shelf bookcase filled with works by  Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel, John Grisham, James Patterson, Mary Higgins-Clark, Sandra Brown, and many others. As to newer authors, I love London Saint James, Julie Miller, Delores Fossen, and several others. In addition to the print books, I have an ereader with over a thousand stories and my Kindle for PC has that many or more. Yes, I enjoy reading…Always have and always will. When I was younger and still in school, I spent my babysitting money on books. The Hardy Boys were my favorites back then. Sadly, I lost a whack of books in a house fire but I’ve since collected many more titles. My children, as they grew, never had a lack of books to read, from being babes in arms through their teenage years. I read to them daily and my oldest son is a Stephen King and John Grisham fan. The two younger boys are more into video games, but hey, they had to know how to read to play some of them. Now it’s my grandchildren who come to me to be read to or borrow books from. It’s a bond I share with them all and I am sincerely pleased.

And surprise of surprises, my mother enjoys reading my books. She’s always been a great supporter of my writing so I’m not sure why I was surprised when she asked for the print ones…and insisted on paying for them, too. 🙂 The first one she read, His Christmas Wish, was nothing more than a printout from my computer, but she loved it. Then Zakia and the Cowboy…she read it in two days! And this is a woman who doesn’t read much. God, I love that woman. She’s always been there for me.

I guess that’s all I have for you today. Happy reading and writing. Love you all!

Please take a few minutes and pop over to Kindle Scout to read my chapter. If you like it, hit the ‘nominate me’ button. I really would like to win this publishing contract. Thanks to you, I already stand a good chance. Just click here.

30 days of Kindle Scout…Day 21

Published March 15, 2016 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Daydreams and Night Scenes cover_TAKE 4

I absolutely love this cover! The models suit this story so well. So confident and sexy. 🙂

A night of love. Fantasy or Fateful Alliance?

Miranda Stuart is lushly built, hauntingly beautiful, career-oriented, and extremely intelligent, but thanks to a teenage crush on Alex Denning, a man who was way out of her league, she acts out of character when they meet up years later at a posh resort. She determines to have her fantasy night in his arms. When the night’s magic should have begun (unbeknownst to him) our dashing, billionaire playboy enters the scene with bright lights blaring and another woman in tow. Had she just left herself open to blackmail?

Sound good?

This is the book that is up for nominations at Kindle Scout. I’m trying to win a publishing contract there. In case you didn’t know, Kindle Scout is reader-powered publishing. The more nominations I get, the better my chances of winning a contract. Not only do I want to tap into their marketing, I like the idea of a $1500 advance. Just imagine how many books I could buy with that! LOL

The first five days my novel was listed as Hot and Trending and although I’ve had plenty of page views, it hasn’t hit that since. With only 9 days left of my campaign for Daydreams and Night Scenes, I need your help. I’d really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to pop over there and read my chapter. If you like what you read, then please nominate my book. You may need to open an Amazon account, but that’s easy enough and no purchase necessary. If Daydreams and Night Scenes is selected for publication, you win a free copy direct from Amazon. How’s that for incentive? 🙂 Just click on the cover pic and you’re there.

In other news, I’m working on the next installment of the Thunder Creek Ranch series with Evernight Publishing. This one is about Jack Grayson, Winnie’s youngest son, and Allison Wakefield, the new vet in town. Fresh out of university, Jack’s all set to return to the Grayson spread and implement his studies and ideas in bringing the family’s ranch into the current generation. He’s sidetracked when he meets Allison and finds himself wanting to spend time with her. Meanwhile, someone has targeted him via his truck and vandalism to the point of attempted murder.

The working title is A Cowboy’s Drive, but I’m beginning to think it’s not catchy enough. Can you throw me a few ideas? Please?

Thank you and please, don’t forget to nominate Daydreams and Night Scenes. 🙂

Benjamin is Free!

Published March 4, 2016 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

That’s right. Benjamin, Book 2 in The Hudson Ranch series, is free today until Tuesday, March 8th. Grab it while you can. 🙂 The gorgeous covers for this series were hand drawn by my sister, Sharon Wilson-Dupuis.

Rodeo cowboy Benjamin Hudson is one of four brothers set to inherit their father’s ranch in northern Alberta. The only problem is, the three oldest have been estranged from Zackary Hudson for years. Their father’s will states they have to live on the ranch for one year, show a profit, and care for their baby brother. The main problems…none of them know anything about running a working ranch or caring for an infant. They decide to hire domestic help for the primary care of Jeremiah.

Halifax native, Danielle Madison, wants to escape the pain of an abusive marriage and the resultant stillborn child. She sees the ad for a nanny on a ranch in Alberta, applies, and flies west without a second thought. For Dani it’s work only, with no intention of becoming involved until she meets Benjamin, the tough-as-nails ex rodeo rider, who handles his baby brother with great gentleness and compassion. Little Jeremiah pulls at her heartstrings, and she’s drawn to him, despite her resolve to remain aloof.

Love is not in Ben’s vocabulary, except as it applies to his lost siblings. When things start disappearing and going wrong, Dani is Ben’s initial suspect. He’s attracted to her, despite her withdrawn persona, and tries to believe in her innocence as they work together to solve the mysterious happenings. Will love win out, or will the fear of commitment drive a permanent wedge between them?

The Hudson Ranch books can be read alone, but it’s best if you read them in order. Just click on the titles for blurbs and purchase links.

Book 1, The Inheritance, 99 cents

Book 2, Benjamin, normally $3.36 is Free

Book 3, Gabriel, $3.09

Book 4, Nathan, $4.22

All above books are also available in print.

As always, I’m happy to hear from my fans. Without you, I’d have no reason to write. (Other than the fact that writing keeps me sane.) 🙂 Please post questions and/or comments below.

Kindle Scout – Update

Published March 3, 2016 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Well, folks, we’ve survived our first week at Kindle Scout. 🙂 Daydreams and Night Scenes cover_TAKE 3

Daydreams and Night Scenes has had a total of 498 page views and 97 hours listed as Hot and Trending. Of course, it would be nice for it to stay Hot continuously, but I’m happy just to have so many people rooting for me and my writing.

Did I tell you that if you nominate my book and it wins a publishing contract, you get a free ecopy? That’s right. A little incentive to participate in the program coming from the Amazon Kindle Scout program. A win, win scenario for each of us.

The first chapter of Daydreams and Night Scenes is posted on the Kindle Scout site and I encourage you to sample my work, if you haven’t done so before. If you like what you read and would like to read the rest, just click that pretty blue ‘nominate me’ button.

Now for a little history…

Daydreams and Night Scenes is actually the 2nd book I wrote while trying to get my thumb to heal, following on the heels of Love on the Rocks. Being off work on medical leave meant I had plenty of time on my hands (pun intended) and I allowed the creative juices to flow freely. I wrote the book in 2 weeks, gave it a quick edit, and that was it. It sat in its file on my computer…waiting for an official edit, which only came to be last month after my friend DJ badgered me into getting it ready to enter the Kindle Scout contest.

Here’s the blurb:

A night of love. Fantasy or Fateful Alliance?

Miranda Stuart is lushly built, hauntingly beautiful, career-oriented, and extremely intelligent, but thanks to a teenage crush on Alexander Denning, a man who was way out of her league, she acts out of character when they meet up years later at a posh resort. She determines to have her fantasy night in his arms. When the night’s magic should have begun (unbeknownst to him) our dashing, billionaire playboy enters the scene with bright lights blaring and another woman in tow. Has she left herself open to blackmail?

If you haven’t already, please pop on over and read my first chapter. I really love these characters and, despite their very diverse backgrounds, find they have a lot in common. Thank you for your support.
