My First Author Fair!

Published December 13, 2015 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

What can I say? 🙂 It was a fantastic experience, one I was proud to be a part of. This is me at my first public signing. I know, I look like an old hag, but what you see is only me on the surface. I have several beautiful layers within. 🙂

As you can see, my table was full. I had a good selection of sweet romance, romantic suspense, Christmas titles, kids’ books, and coloring books. My friend and co-worker, Cyndy Lewis, went with me and it was nice to have a day out. I hadn’t seen her in quite a while and she was excited to share the day with me. Once the table was set up, we could walk around and see other authors and their books or just sit back and relax.

The first book I signed, my hand shook like crazy, but after that all was okay. lol

Attending the event were comic book authors and illustrators, fantasy authors, childrens’ book authors, a few who write thrillers, and another romance author or two. The tables were full and, at times, the place was packed.

Most of the authors there had between 1 and 3 books available. When I posted on the event page that I had 30 titles available, one of the other authors didn’t believe me, so he went to my page (on Amazon I think) and checked it out. He told me about it when I met him yesterday and we had a good chuckle.

I can’t believe how many people stopped by my table to admire the covers and tell me how prolific I am. 🙂 I didn’t bother to tell them that I have 4 more almost ready to release. LOL

And, BTW, I wasn’t always ugly.Lorraine

This is me at 14. lol

I used to write a lot back then, mostly love poems. lol

I’ve started writing a new series, Crosswinds Ranch. The ranch was inherited by William (Billy) Gentry while he was serving time for a crime he didn’t commit.

On the day he’s released, he is told that his name is being cleared and compensation will be issued, which is fine with him. It falls in with his plan to open his ranch to homeless or troubled teens, teaching them how to survive, even thrive, and better their current situations.

And of course, there’s a woman involved. Jessie Connors comes to him as a cook and den mother for the girls in his care. But Jessie has problems that may well endanger the teenagers they hope to help.

Coming to you in January, 2016.

In the meantime, I’m finishing up Guarding Flint, a story that’s been waiting for its ending for a while now.

Ella Delaney and Flint Harrington were high school sweethearts…until one day when Ella woke up to find him gone…no note, no phone call, nothing.

Eight years later, he’s back in town and it appears he’s right in the middle of her investigation. With people shooting at him and trying to run him off the road, there was no question about it, Flint was in big trouble. And wasn’t it just Ella’s luck that her Captain assigned her and her partner to bodyguard duty.

How was she supposed to keep her private life private while in such close proximity to the only man she’d ever loved? Were they destined for a second chance…if she could keep him alive?

2014 msg

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Christmas is coming. Will you be ready?

It really doesn’t matter. It’ll come anyway. 🙂 I love Christmas, especially the spirit of giving to those you love. Whether it be emotional, spiritual, or something physical you buy or make yourself, it’s all done with the best of intentions. Sometimes the best thing you can do for others is give your time. Let your friends and family know you love them and are there for them, no matter what.

My mom and I used to get together and do our baking every year just to give most of it away. LOL. Unfortunately, that won’t happen this year as she is terminally ill and, for the most part, bedridden. My one wish is that she lasts out the year without any pain. So far so good. She says she feels fine and always has a smile for us. I love her so much. She is so proud of me for following my dream of being a writer…a published author, and of my sister, Sharon Wilson-Dupuis, for drawing these beautiful covers.

If you’re buying your loved one an electronic device, Kindle or whatnot, my Hudson Ranch series with its beautifully illustrated covers is sure to please. They are available online and book 1, The Inheritance is free today until Monday. The other 3 books in this series are only 99 cents each for the same 4 days. Download a copy with my heartfelt blessings for the very Merriest of Christmases. Just click on the book cover and you’re there, no matter where you live. 🙂

This short story is an introduction to the series.

Time is running out for Zackary Hudson. He has a fierce desire to reunite with his estranged sons, but they’re proving difficult to find. He hires a private investigator and the search begins in earnest. But will he find them in time?

 Only 99 cents!!!

Only 99 cents!!!

Rodeo cowboy Benjamin Hudson is one of four brothers set to inherit their father’s ranch in northern Alberta. The only problem is, the three oldest have been estranged from Zackary Hudson for years. Their father’s will states they have to live on the ranch for one year, show a profit, and care for their baby brother. The main problems…none of them know anything about running a working ranch or caring for an infant. They decide to hire domestic help for the primary care of Jeremiah.

Halifax native, Danielle Madison, wants to escape the pain of an abusive marriage and the resultant stillborn child. She sees the ad for a nanny on a ranch in Alberta, applies, and flies west without a second thought. For Dani it’s work only, with no intention of becoming involved until she meets Benjamin, the tough-as-nails ex rodeo rider, who handles his baby brother with great gentleness and compassion. Little Jeremiah pulls at her heartstrings, and she’s drawn to him, despite her resolve to remain aloof.

Love is not in Ben’s vocabulary, except as it applies to his lost siblings. When things start disappearing and going wrong, Dani is Ben’s initial suspect. He’s attracted to her, despite her withdrawn persona, and tries to believe in her innocence as they work together to solve the mysterious happenings. Will love win out, or will the fear of commitment drive a permanent wedge between them?

He’d been duped!

Busy attending the victims of a fire on the Hudson Ranch and cleaning up after his veterinary clinic is vandalized, Gabe Hudson hires an assistant through email, based on qualifications. When Kristin appears, ready to work, he discovers he’s been duped. Thinking he’d hired a male practitioner who could help with their huge patients, he is totally baffled at her willingness to take on such a task.

Angry at first, he soon discovers how capable she is, seeming to have an affinity with the animals they tended. It didn’t hurt that her voice was soft and sexy and she was easy on the eyes to boot, but her entire demeanor was of a ‘hands off’ attitude. His growing affection and attraction to the woman were making his days harried and his nights a living hell. Combine that with trying to keep her safe as a psycho targets the clinic, and he’s afraid to let her out of his sight.

 Only 99 cents!!!

Nate’s job as an accountant is to get the Ranch’s accounts in order and bring in new business, so he hires his neighbor, Cyndi Dillon, as his assistant. She’s efficient and capable and oh so desirable, but Nate doesn’t believe in mixing business with pleasure.

Her job is everything she’d dreamed of and more, but she’s harboring a secret that could jeopardize their working relationship. The one thing Cyndi hadn’t counted on was falling for the shy accountant. He’s drop-dead gorgeous and looks great in Levis, but wasn’t it just her luck to fall for a pretend cowboy when she’d grown up around the real thing?

Someone doesn’t want the boys to inherit their father’s ranch and will do anything to get what they want. When problems on the spread escalate, will personal safety get in the way of their future or does love really conquer all?

Praise for the Hudson Ranch series as found on Amazon:

New Release and Cover Reveal!

Published November 17, 2015 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

I just love releasing new books!

This is the fifth year that I’ve released a Christmas short for 99 cents, and although Once Upon a Christmas Wish is longer than the rest by 10000-15000 words, it’s still only 99 cents. 🙂 I just love this cover. It speaks to me of happiness and love. What do you think? Blurb:

Widowed mother, Christina Madison, is a work-from-home seamstress struggling to make ends meet in order to sup[port herself and her son. She finds it extra difficult during special occasions…like the upcoming holiday…Christmas.

Ethan Forrester is a man on a mission to find a twin brother he never knew he had. Instead, he finds his brother’s widow and little boy.

He never believed in love at first sight until he met Christina. But is her attraction to him because of the man he is? Or because he is identical to her deceased husband?

I hope you enjoy this Christmas story and that you all have a happy and blessed Christmas this year.

I’m doing it again! Blessed Homecoming_200x300

I received such great feedback on the free downloads of Finding Baby J, that I thought I’d do it again. 🙂 Blessed Homecoming is free from today, October 21st, until the 25th. Feel free to download your copy.

Blessed Homecoming is the first, and so far only, inspirational novel that I have written. Although a lot of my self-published works are clean reads, this is the only book that speaks of faith in God and in one’s self. I truly enjoyed crafting this story of romantic suspense. Previously published with BP, it became a bestseller with several e-retailers and was Book of the Month at a major review site.

Don’t you just love the cover! The couple pictured here are exactly as I imagined them to be.

The hometown girl and the handyman both carry emotional baggage. Are they destined to remain friends or is there room in their hearts for more?
Wendy Danforth is preparing to be a single mom, her ex-husband in jail for spousal abuse. She returns to her hometown, to renew her faith and to heal. Caught off guard by the handyman in residence, attraction hits, swift and piercing, but she quells her unruly emotions, in no hurry to get involved in another relationship. Besides, at almost nine months pregnant, she wasn’t exactly looking her best.

Jake Roberts, hired to renovate the Danforths’ house, took one look at his employer’s daughter and wanted to run far and fast. He hadn’t possessed an ounce of faith or been around a pregnant woman in three long years, not since his wife and unborn son died in an auto accident. They become friends, and when her ex-husband escapes custody, he steps up to protect Wendy and her unborn child. Will the danger and close proximity test their friendship? Or will it lead to more? Can Jake regain his lost faith, or will it elude him forever?

Here a taste of what readers are saying about Blessed Homecoming:

5 stars Warmly real characters and a heart-warming plot from one of today’s finest romance authors March 31, 2014 By Michelle Fayard
There are many fine writers in the romance field today, but Lorraine Nelson, with her gift for understanding and portraying people and their ability to not give up on love, leads the pack.

5 Stars Blessed by Blessed Homecoming
February 6, 2014 By lisaf
Realistic and inspiring characters. Wendy and Jake have pasts that make it difficult for them to trust and love. So glad to have run across this story, and will be reading more by Lorraine Nelson.

5 stars The TBR Pile  – A Must Read. 04/20/2013 Amanda
Wendy and Jake are realistic, likable characters with real problems. The instant attraction was not insta-love, which I appreciated in this story. Rather than “love cures all”, this story seemed a lot more like love encouraged each one to grow and heal.

5 stars Tara Chevrestt, July 13th, 2012
A sweet, clean read that explores love, trust, forgiveness, and the close bonds of family.

5 Stars Stacey Jo Siferd’s
review, Night Owl Reviews, Jul 13, 2012 This is a book that mothers can share with their daughters and women can share with family and friends without worrying about content.

I do hope you download and enjoy Wendy and Jake’s story. And if you have time, I’d appreciate your leaving a review on Amazon. Grab your copy here.

Countdown sale on my new children’s book!

Published October 15, 2015 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Hoppy Froggy“A delightful book for children. Beautiful illustrations.”

“I recommend this book to your children, it is fun and enjoyable.”

This is what people are saying about Hoppy Froggy and I couldn’t be happier. The book is based on a poem that I wrote for my oldest grandson, Samuel, when he was just three years old. Thunder boomed overhead and lightning lit up the sky and he was frightened by the storm. He always enjoyed sitting on my knee and ‘writing’ on my computer, so that evening we sat and wrote this poem. Why frogs? Because he loves them. 🙂

From the time we were kids, I loved to write and my sister, Sharon Wilson-Dupuis, loved to draw. We always said that one day we’d do a book for kids. Well, folks, this is it. Hoppy Froggy is her first venture into watercolor and she did a fantastic job on the illustrations. Her attention to detail is amazing and she exceeded my expectations, which were pretty high to begin with. 🙂

Today only, Hoppy Froggy is on sale at Amazon for 99c/99p! Tomorrow it’s $1.99 and Saturday it’s back to the regular price of $3.49.

Grab it while you can. Just click here.

***Please Note:

There seems to be a problem with Amazon as the price isn’t changed everywhere yet, but keep trying.

Happy downloading!

With a stalker following her every move, Zakia has no choice but to flee the city. Her options limited, she runs to the only place she’s ever felt safe…the Thunder Creek Ranch and her ex-husband, Lucas.

Will he protect Zakia from the stalker? And if he does will either of them be able to ignore the feelings that have simmered for so long, ready to explode… before danger either draws them together or pulls them apart.

My most recent release is Kidnapped: The Search for Casey, Book 7 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series.

Six-year-old Casey Manning has been kidnapped!

His cousin, Lynne Kerrigan, and Private Investigator, Trent Erikson, join forces to search for him…a search that takes them beyond the Atlantic Ocean to war-torn Afghanistan. They spend several days and nights together as they travel across a foreign country full of danger while following the kidnappers’ trail.

They are hot for each other and as they spend time together, things get even hotter. She loves Trent and hopes to have children some day, but Trent has been down that road before and isn’t interested in marrying a second time. So once back on Canadian soil with a happy Casey in tow, Lynne sends Trent away, even though her heart is breaking.

Trent goes back to Vancouver but finds he cannot forget his fiery-haired beauty. Would he be the one to compromise? Or would Lynne wake up and realize they were living in the twenty-first century?

Blessed Homecoming…A sweet romantic suspense.

Wendy Danforth is preparing to be a single mom, her ex-husband in jail for spousal abuse. She returns home to Riverton, New Brunswick, only to be caught off guard by the handyman in residence. Attraction hits, swift and piercing, but she quells her unruly emotions. With one bad relationship behind her, she’s in no hurry to get involved in another. Besides, at almost nine months pregnant, she wasn’t exactly looking her best.

Jake Roberts, hired to renovate the Danforths’ house, took one look at his employer’s daughter and wanted to run far and fast. He hadn’t been around a pregnant woman in three long years, not since his wife and unborn son died in an auto accident. But when her ex-husband escapes custody, he steps up to protect Wendy and her unborn child.

Her Unlikely Bodyguard…Heat level 2, romantic suspense

A stalker who wants revenge…a past flame rekindled…Jemma Leigh’s summer just got interesting.

Jemma Leigh Harding has drawn the attention of an unknown stalker and returns to her hometown of Somerville, a safe haven—or so she thinks—on the east coast of Canada.

Theodore Garrity is the last person she expects to see, considering how easily he walked away from her after graduation to join the army.

Their past history involves secrets Jemma Leigh is hesitant to share. When it becomes clear the stalker has followed her home, Teddy becomes her unlikely bodyguard. Will the terror and past hurts separate them forever? Or will love blaze a fresh path for their future?

Love on the Rocks…A sweet romantic suspense.

When Sara attempts to save her daughter, she may also be escaping a fate worse than an abusive boyfriend…she may be running away from true love. The big question is: Which man will find her first?

Sara Compton, normally strong, independent, and fun-loving, is deeply distressed at having to abandon her baby, but she has neither money nor home and is hiding from an abusive and obsessive ex-boyfriend. The only way to keep her child safe is to give her up.

Anthony Jacobs has sworn off women due to a previous relationship gone sour. He finds the child, takes her home, and arranges care for her. When he places a public call for a nanny and a lovely woman arrives who seems to have a rapport with the abandoned baby, he hires her on the spot.

Sara is fraught with guilt and tension at the possibility of being found out. What will Anthony think of her if—or when—he finds out the truth? To add to her worries, trouble arises in the form of Sara’s ex-boyfriend, who appears on the scene with custody papers in hand. She makes a hasty escape, her daughter in tow, but in the process of avoiding the evil Elliot Saunders, is she leaving behind her one true love?

Finding Baby J…A sweet romance with a little heat.

One lonely woman, a doctor afraid of commitment… Will finding Baby J help them heal each other?

Shana Davis knows what it’s like to be unloved and unwanted. Her childhood involved being shuffled from one foster home to the next. One night, as her shift at Mercy hospital comes to an end, she hears a forlorn, mewling sound and finds a newborn baby boy left in a dumpster. The abandoned baby appeals to her soft heart and her immediate attachment to the child—dubbed Baby J—leads to her spending a lot of time in the Maternity Ward in the company of the handsome Dr. Daniels.
Dr. Kagan Daniels is heart-sore and commitment-shy due to his failed marriage and past experiences with selfish, cold-hearted women. But he sees a gentle, caring soul in Shana and is drawn to her. Despite his reservations, he realizes he wants to get to know her better and finds excuses to spend time in her company.
Having always wanted to be a daddy, Kagan adopts Baby J. As he and Shana grow closer, Shana feels she’s found her own private heaven. She has Baby J and the man of her dreams. What more could a woman want?
But a conniving woman, a manipulative mother, and a man from Shana’s past threaten to come between them. Will the lies spewed by others separate them forever? Or can their love win out over all?

And the best part is…they will be available in print. Yay! Will be back on Amazon as soon as I can get them there. Still recovering from major surgery, so time at my desk is limited. Thank you for your time, understanding, and support. Love you all!

New Release and Cover Reveal!!!

Published May 23, 2015 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

couple man and woman - romantic dawn at the beach
A Soldier for Poppy is now available online and just in time for Memorial Day weekend in the US. How do you like this cover? Gorgeous!

Poppy Jacobson has sworn off the military life ever since her husband died and left her to raise their children alone. She vowed never to hurt that way again and spent her days looking after her two preschoolers, her house, her garden, and her part-time work as an accountant. But she longed for someone to hold her in the wee hours of the morning. But did her attraction to Carl dishonor her husband’s memory?

Carl Anders was her husband’s best friend and an honorary uncle to her children, but for him that wasn’t enough. He’d always loved Poppy and it was time for her to start living again, hopefully with him. Could he break through the barriers she’d erected since Peter died? A summer with them as guests at his beach house would tell the tale.

It’s available now at Amazon.
