New Release…Finding Baby J!!!

Published September 7, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

I am thrilled to announce the arrival of Baby J. Abandoned at birth, he soon finds himself wrapped in the loving arms of Shana Davis. But Dr. Kagan Daniels is also drawn to the baby boy. This is a compelling story of love for a child and how it can bring two people together. Blood ties aren’t always the strongest, as proved when J wraps these two adults around his little fingers and secures a place in their hearts.

My friend and fellow author, DJ Frazier, provided the idea for this story, and we spent many delightful evenings brainstorming, writing; sometimes sad and sometimes laughing at the hijinks of Shana and Kagan as they come to know each other. I hope you enjoy this foray into the medical world. 🙂

Blurb:

One lonely woman, a doctor afraid of commitment… Will finding Baby J help them find each other?

***

Shana Davis knows what it’s like to be unloved and unwanted. Her childhood involved being shuffled from one foster home to the next. One night, as her shift at Mercy hospital comes to an end, she hears a forlorn, mewling sound and finds a newborn baby boy left in a dumpster. The abandoned baby appeals to her soft heart and her immediate attachment to the child—dubbed Baby J—leads to her spending a lot of time in the Maternity Ward in the company of the handsome Dr. Daniels.

Dr. Kagan Daniels is heart-sore and commitment-shy due to his failed marriage and past experiences with selfish, cold-hearted women. But he sees a gentle, caring soul in Shana and is drawn to her. Despite his reservations, he realizes he wants to get to know her better and finds excuses to spend time in her company.

Having always wanted to be a daddy, Kagan adopts Baby J. As he and Shana grow closer, Shana feels she’s found her own private heaven. She has Baby J and the man of her dreams. What more could a woman want?

But a conniving woman, a manipulative mother, and a man from Shana’s past threaten to come between them. Will the lies spewed by others separate them forever? Or can their love win out over all?

Excerpt:

Kagan held her hand as he guided her into the house. They walked through to the foyer to ascend the magnificent staircase leading to the second story. Once there, he preceded her into his personal suite of rooms. The main area had a bay of windows opening out unto a balcony. The view overlooked the back lawn and gardens then meandered down to the river where a boathouse and dock were just visible in the moonlight.

“Your home has such beautiful views.”

“Nothing compares to the beauty of you. I especially like looking at you as I undress you, exposing that gorgeous body, one piece of clothing at a time.”

He matched his words with action, starting with her sweater, looped casually around her shoulders. Then turned her into his arms for a deep, passion-filled kiss. She felt that melting sensation that happened every time he kissed her. Her insides fluttered and took wing then settled into a delicious knot of anticipation. She stroked her hands down his chest and felt the ripple of firm muscle, enjoying the opportunity to explore his body more fully. Her inhibitions completely deserted her. Though he hadn’t said the words, she felt he was making a commitment to them and not just playing the field.

He led her to the bed where he continued to strip her bare. Night had fully descended, moonlight reflecting off the water, illuminating the room enough so they could see each other.

Her hands were busy with the buttons on his shirt, shaking so much from anticipation they refused to work properly. In her haste, she ripped the remaining ones free and delighted in running her fingers through the coarse chest hair; the texture so different that when she rubbed her breasts against him, the tingles went straight to her groin. Heavenly days! The sensations this man evoked in her were rocking her world.

Naked at last, they fell to the bed in a jumble of arms and legs, laughing, kissing, and caressing each other. She’d never thought of sex as fun, only as a necessity to consummate a relationship, but this sense of sharing and bonding between them filled her with a glorious awakening of her power as a woman. She delighted in arousing him, of being able to turn him on with the merest look or touch, as he did her.

Soon, all playfulness disappeared in the passion of the moment as their bodies joined together, working toward a common goal, that of pleasuring each other to fulfillment.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief glimpse into the lives of Shana, Kagan, and Baby J. As always, one lucky commenter will receive a free download at the end of the virtual tour. Don’t forget to leave your email address. 🙂

Spotlight on Adonis Devereux!

Published July 16, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Today’s spotlight is on the husband/wife team of Adonis Devereux. Welcome! Take it away!

Thanks for having us today! Hi, we’re the husband-wife writing team of Adonis Devereux. You know what’s different about us? I’m sure you’re all aware of how it’s trendy for romance novels to have both the heroine’s and the hero’s points of view. Well, since we’re a husband-wife writing team, we have the advantage of the right writer writing the right gender. The Mr. writes the chapters with the hero’s POV, and the Mrs. writes the heroine’s!

We’d like to introduce today our fifth erotic romance novel set in the fantasy world of Gilalion, a place where anything is possible, especially love against all odds. The Soldier’s Lotus explores themes of slavery, revenge, and unexpected love between a white woman and a black man. Saerileth, the heroine, comes from a small island nation dependent on the larger and more powerful nation on the mainland. When she meets Darien, the large, sex-god navy captain, she remembers him from her past, though he does not recognize her.

If you haven’t fallen into our world yet, now’s your chance. And don’t forget to check out our backlist, all titles coming from this erotic, fantastic world.

Comment below for a chance to win not only a free copy of The Soldier’s Lotus but also the map that accompanies the novel!

Don’t forget to “like” our Facebook Author Page for access to exclusive content including maps and recipes. Happy reading!

And now for their latest release…The Soldier’s Lotus.

Blurb

One death. Saerileth had trained all her life for one death. From the time her clan had been massacred when she was five years old, until now, thirteen years later, Saerileth has sought one death. Now that she has attained the rank of full-blown Lotus, she has been sent by the Red Lotus guild to the foreign city of Arinport. But Saerileth has other plans, and the one death she seeks is more to her than the guild’s plans for her. Saerileth’s plans go awry, however, when she meets Darien, the brave soldier from her past, whom she had never expected to see again.

Darien alters everything, simply by being there, and Saerileth is swept up into a world of intrigue and assassination that makes seeking her one death even harder. But her mission of vengeance is difficult to reconcile with being the soldier’s Lotus, and in the end, Saerileth’s choice will affect three nations.

Be Warned: multiple partners, ménage sex, anal sex, m/m sex, spanking, erotic asphyxiation.

Excerpt

“I must enter you now,” Darien said, and Saerileth’s eyes widened.

“Why?”

“To prevent my crew from taking you themselves and dividing you as common spoil.”

“Can you not just order them not to?”

Darien shook his head. “They found you. If I renounce salvage rights to you, they can claim them. The only way to put you utterly beyond their power is to make you my legal concubine.”

“Then why do you not just tell them I am?” Saerileth shifted on the divan and crossed her ankles.

Darien glanced back at Kamen who stood in front of the door and looked straight ahead, bending his concentration on the invisible air. He did not make eye contact with Darien. Something serious ate at him, something that had started the moment Saerileth came aboard.

“I tried that once,” Darien said, returning his attention to the girl he knew he must couple with. “There was no contract, no witness. I didn’t want to take the girl against her will, so I faked it. We Sunjaa are the People of the Word, as you probably know. If it isn’t written down and witnessed, it didn’t happen.” Darien did not enjoy talking about this, but he wanted Saerileth to understand. “Well, my crew went ahead and raped her anyway, and I wasn’t able to do anything about it. She was their salvage, and I had failed her.”

Saerileth stood and let her pallav fall. Darien drew in a long, deep breath. Her beauty was divine, every line and curve perfect. “Your pain is fresh, as if this happened yesterday. You are a man of deep feeling.” And she laid her hand on the bare part of his chest that lay exposed from his loose shirt.

Her flesh was still cold from the seawater, but her touch was like fire on his skin, sending hunger through him. “I will take you, then.” It was half statement, half question. He laid his hands on her shoulders, feeling her delicate frame beneath his strong, soldierly hands.

All Saerileth did was look up at him through her long, black eyelashes and nod. That sent Darien over the edge. He picked her up and kissed her mouth, tasting her lips as if they were fruit. She was half his size, and he easily wrapped his arms around her back, bringing his hands to her opposite sides. She threw her arms around his neck as she kissed him back with equal fervor. Her legs were wrapped around his waist, and due to their size difference, she was practically perched on his massive, muscular frame. To Darien, she was no weight at all. He had carried heavier sacks of grain.

Saerileth unwrapped her pallav from her left forearm and tossed it away. With both hands free, she ran her fingers across Darien’s close-cropped hair. Between kisses, Darien could catch glimpses of her body. Under the pallav, she wore a short shirt that left her midriff bare, and the skirt she wore, though tight, accommodated a wide range of movement. The material was elastic enough to allow her legs free reign.

Darien laid Saerileth down on the divan and lay on top of her, though he rested most of his weight on his forearms and one knee that wedged itself between the cushions. So much for the pristine state of the divan! But to Darien, this moment made his saving it worth it. He wanted to be rough with Saerileth, but this was her first time with him, so he promised himself he would be gentle. By the way she ground against him and the way she deep-kissed, Darien guessed she was skilled in sex, but he could not know whether she had ever taken a man of his size inside her before. Considering she was dressed as if she had just come from the Dimadan, he guessed she had not. The Sunjaa were better endowed than the Zenji, and Darien was better endowed than any other Sunjaa he knew. And he had seen a lot of cocks in his day.

Saerileth blindly yanked at his breeches, and he blindly yanked at the shirt that hugged her breasts. They could not stop even for a moment to look at what they were doing; he needed more of her kisses. He did not want to miss one taste. He was greedy for this beautiful, pale stranger, and her clear desire for him only served to make him abandon all reason. His growl slipped past her tongue, and she responded by sucking on his bottom lip. His cock swelled, and he was obliged to reach down and loosen the strings so that his cock might burst free. When it did, it slapped against Saerileth’s belly with such a smack that she gasped and pulled away from Darien. Her eyes searched his in wonderment, as if she had discovered hidden treasure. She gazed into his eyes as her hand found his cock. Once she touched it, she smiled at Darien, let slip a light laugh, and fell to kissing him again.

Spotlight on Alyssa Fox

Published January 19, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author
Today it is my pleasure to introduce Alyssa Fox, author of the bestselling Bound to Protect, newly released from Evernight Publishing. Welcome, Alyssa!

Alyssa Fox – Bio

Alyssa didn’t start off wanting to write for a living. She wanted to be a nurse at first, but then it turned into being a mom. Being at home with four small children, she needed an outlet. Alyssa started out writing a YA book, but it took a bad turn, and that’s when she found her genre with smoking hot sex scenes.Alyssa now resides in the beautiful mountains of southern West Virginia with her loving husband and four wonderful children who put up with her writing craziness. They have been shushed more than once so she could write down something a character was saying. As a stay at home mom and the family taxi driver, she still finds time to write about the alpha heroes and strong-willed heroines who keep her imagination running wild.

What decided you on writing?

I used to write some in high school, but I got married and pushed it to the side. Then two years ago while we had a snow storm going on outside I picked up the pen again and started writing. I’ve not looked back since.

How do you find time to write with four kids?

Well, they are in school during the day, so I write then. If I need to do any writing on the weekends due to edits and such, my husband is very supportive, and will let me sneak away to work. I’ve been known to sit in the living room on my laptop with the family and write as we watch TV.

You write erotic romance. Correct?

Yes!

Why are you drawn to this type of story?

I love the plot lines and chemistry that come off the pages in these books. Yes, there’s hot sex in there, but the plot lines are also very strong and carry the book. Also, the sex is woven into the plot, so you get to see the couple grow in every way together, sexually, emotionally and physically.

Where do the ideas come from?

Everywhere! It can come from a song, something someone says to me.

What comes first, names of H/h, location or plot?

It all depends on the book. Sometimes the characters come to me first and sometimes the plot. In Bound To Protect, the characters came to me first because they’re in my first book Road to Recovery. While writing that book I thought what if these two got together, and I kept going with questions until I had their conflicts and such.

Are you a plotter or pantser?

I’m a plotter who used to be a panster, and now I wouldn’t go back. I’m a very detailed plotter too. I have a story board that I fill out all the way before starting a book. I also have to know most everything about my characters before beginning.

What is your typical writing day/night?

I get up early to get the kids ready for school. Once they leave around 8am,  I get cleaning done for the day and by 10 am, I’m ready to sit down and work. I check my email, do any promo stuff or blogging that needs to be done. I try and schedule my blogs to post, early morning, but sometimes they don’t post and I have to go in and do it. I write the rest of the day until I have to get the oldest daughter from school around 2:30. If need be and I have to write later I do that around 8pm.

Do you ever have trouble getting into the ‘writing zone’?

Only time I’ve had that trouble is when I’ve tried to write in the wrong genre, or I just turned in edits or a book.

My characters ‘speak’ to me as I write their story. Do yours? If so, what’s it like to have him/her breathing down your neck?

Yes, mine talk to me too. Well, my men are a pain in the butt at times. They are very alpha and therefore, very demanding. Like right now a character is yelling at me for not writing on his book and doing this interview, but I told him to behave or I’ll torture him even more.

My heroines are pretty easy to deal with, but they can be just as demanding as the men.

Is Hubby supportive of your writing career?

Yes, my husband is very supportive. He tells everyone what I do and promotes me to his friends. Does he help with the ‘hands on’ research? Yes he sure does.  🙂

If you had to describe yourself, what three words best suit you?

Shy, opinionated, kind

If someone else described you, what three words would they use? *evil grin*

Kind, funny, loving

Not too different, it’s freezing cold right now with snow.

What is your favorite season?

Summer

Why?

I love when it’s hot outside, and you can play outside all day and into the night. Also it’s baseball season!

Do you think you’ll try your hand at different genres in the future?  If so, which ones?

Yes. Contemporary and I want to give paranormal a try when I get a chance.

What pearls of wisdom would you like to impart to aspiring writers?

Don’t give up. Keep writing even if you get rejections. Take what the editor or agents tell you and use that to make your next book shine. Also, never apologize for what you write—ever!

Bound to Protect  just released through Evernight Publishing and is already and All Romance eBooks bestseller.

Congratulations!

I love the cover!

Thanks! I love the cover as well. The cover artist did a great job at capturing some things in the book in that cover.

What prompted you to write this story?

Well, Chad and Katie were in my debut book as a small role, and I fell in love with them, so I decided to give them their own book. I saw chemistry between them in one scene in that book that I left out of the book.

How long did it take?

It took me two months to write the book.

What characteristics/personality traits make your hero and heroine memorable?

Wow, that’s a hard question because each of my characters are so different. Chad, I love how he knows without a doubt that he wants Katie and will protect her with everything that he has. He’s very loyal. Katie, she’s scared to trust anyone, but her brothers and I love how Chad knocks her off her butt, and makes her feels things she’d buried long ago. He challenges her to think outside of the box.

Can you share the blurb?

Yes of course!

Blurb:

When Katie’s past comes back to haunt her, can she trust Chad enough, or will it be too late?

Katie Thomas has been living a secret life for four years to keep safe. All of that is about to come to a crashing halt when the ex who tried to kill her shows up again. She’s scared and not sure what to do, until she moves next door to fellow doctor, Chad Davis. He’s the last person she wants to live next door to, but one sizzling night together has her yearning for more. The only thing that stands in her way is what he wants in and out of the bedroom; it’s a threat to everything she’s ever believed.

Can he help Katie unlock her hidden desires and show her that this is more than a fling for him?

Chad Davis has always had a thing for the sexy doctor. Assigned to protect Katie, he is determined to bring down her ex to help him get on with his life, finally. His reasons are personal, but one sizzling night together in his bed is all it takes for his priorities to shift. He is not giving her up, no matter how much she insists she is not right for him.

 Excerpt:

The moans coming from Katie just about did him in. Chad lowered her onto the bed and the grip of her arms around his neck tightened. For a moment, she pulled away from the kiss.

“I’ve got you. I won’t drop you.”

A smile crossed her face and made his heart grip tighter against his chest. He was going to enjoy teaching her to be submissive.

“Take your shirt off,” he said with a gruff voice.

“What?”

“You heard what I said.” She stiffened and pulled her legs against her chest. Chad stifled a curse. He had to get his dominant side in check if he was going to reach her. He couldn’t go all “hard-ass” on her the first time. What she needed right now was reassurance that she was safe enough with him to truly let go.

“You’re not going to take it off?” Uncertainty laced her voice. .

“If I wanted to take it off of you, I would have.” Kneeling on the bed beside her, Chad promised himself to go as slowly as she needed. His gut told him she wanted this even if she wasn’t sure how it worked. It was part of his job to show her what her body wanted, needed and craved deep down inside. “If you didn’t have a fantasy about this, you wouldn’t have books on BDSM. Let me show you what your body secretly craves.”

“I’m not a helpless bimbo that needs to be told what to do to get off,” she spit back.

He hardly kept his laugh inside. She still wanted to fight what he knew her body wanted, but her independent streak was woven so deeply that she didn’t want to let go and feel. Hell, after all she’d been through, he could understand why. That was one thing he admired about her.  Katie didn’t take shit from anyone.

“Is that so?” Butterflies slammed against her stomach as his hand continued to roam her body. For a moment she worried about Chad’s taking things too far, about not being what he needed in a woman. What if she wasn’t built to do what he wanted? He didn’t give her much time to think on that before slipping off her thong. Now she was completely naked with his hard body pressed against hers.

“Yes. Now, no talking, unless you’re screaming out my name. Until then, call me ‘Sir’.”

“What if I have a question or something is bothering me?”

“Address me as ‘Sir’ and we’ll deal with it. Are you ready?”

Katie nodded. Nothing could happen to her, and if she needed it, she had a safe word. If she had to, she’d hold onto that reassurance with all her might and not hesitate to speak the safe word if things overwhelmed her. That was the whole point of having a safe word.

“I asked you a question.”

Drawing in her bottom lip, she grazed it with her teeth. “Yes, I’m ready.”

“Yes, what, Katie?” He stopped the caress just a whisper away from her breast. She desperately wanted him to touch her again. Arching towards him, she tried to bring her body into contact with his hand, but he moved.

“Yes, Sir. I’m ready.”

“Relax. Every time I touch you, I can feel you jump. No one’s going to hurt you here.”

Taking in a deep breath, she willed herself to relax, or at least try. Before, this was the point where she’d have trouble and start to pull back from her lover.

“Shouldn’t we lie down?”

“If I thought we needed to, then I’d have told you. Get in the middle of the bed and sit back on your heels.” He could almost see the wheels turning in her head, and for a moment, he wondered if she would use the safe word. Taking a breath, she moved to the bed and did as he had told her. Good girl. Chad climbed on the bed behind her. He palmed her ass, sending heat racing down her body. “Anyone ever take you back here?”

Oh God, not there! That shouldn’t turn her on even more. Chad’s body heat seeped into her back as he blanketed her with the hard muscles of his chest. His hand moved between her thighs.

“Don’t make me ask again. I’ll spank your ass next time.”

“Yes, but I don’t like it. It hurts.” She turned her head to glance at him. “No anal. I can’t do that. You can kiss your chance to fuck me away if you think you’re going to hit me.” Never again would she allow a man to hit her. Being that weak again wasn’t an option anymore.

Moisture seeped between her thighs at the erotic thought of  him smacking her, but no way would she tell him that it turned her on to have him do it. She’d read about it in her books, and it was never abusive. According to the books, it was always done in a safe manner, and brought the woman pleasure. There’d been times that she’d been so turned on after reading that she had to take care of things on her own. And she had no doubts that Chad would see to her pleasure in every way.

Thunder Creek, Book 2 Finished Just in Time for NaNo!

Published October 30, 2011 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

At 50,353 words, Covert Mission: Undercover Cop is finished and off to my critique partners. Yay! Sam and Blake have had a rough time of it. Glad to have sorted things out for them. lol

Book 3 needs a bit of a rewrite due to events in Book 2, but that’s doable. I’m taking a couple days off before starting NaNo on November 1st, then it’s write, write, write. Hoping to finish Books 3 and 4 by the end of the month. I’ll edit and sub those in December and probably start Book 5, the official end of the series, in January.

I think I’m going to have a difficult time saying good-bye to these gals and guys. They’ve been stuck in my head for so long, they’re like friends. My babies… cast out into the world.

The reader response to Book 1, Zakia and the Cowboy, was phenomenal. To think that I was nervous, afraid even, when I signed that first contract, but I’m so glad I did. Writing stories for friends and family is one thing, sharing them with the world, entirely different. It’s scary… truly scary, to put your work out there for all to see. There will be some who don’t ‘get’ my style of writing, but for every one of them, there are more who do. As Zakia’s story provided entertainment and hours of reading pleasure, I hope Sam’s will, too. I thank you and thank God for making my debut novel a grand success.

Bless you!

One More Week! Got Your NaNo Project Ready?

Published October 24, 2011 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

I confess!

I really don’t spend a lot of time setting up for NaNo. A pantser all the way, I’m happy to have names, location and the bare bones of an idea or plot when I start writing.

This year, I did manage to put a few words together in a ‘mini synopsis’ for my NaNo site profile. You can read about it Here. I’d also welcome a couple of buddies to share angst and such during the month. 🙂

Right now, I’m busy finishing up Books 2 and 3 of my Thunder Creek series. Can’t write Book 4 until I finish these. Have to know what happens, right? LOL

Zakia and the Cowboy is still a Bestseller at ARE, Bookstrand and Evernight.  http://www.evernightpublishing.com/zakia-and-the-cowboy-by-lorraine-nelson/

His Christmas Wish is doing amazingly well on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/His-Christmas-Wish-ebook/dp/B005V0T88O/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1318554618&sr=1-3

As a writer, I have to write, but it’s so nice to know that people are receiving enjoyment from my words. Thank you all for your support!

Featured Title AND Bestseller!!!

Zakia and the Cowboy is a featured title and also made the Bestseller List at All Romance eBooks! http://www.allromanceebooks.com/product-zakiaandthecowboy-608452-149.html

Wow! Thank you to all those who have purchased my novel to date. You’ve made all the waiting and agonizing worthwhile. 🙂

Writing is a hobby which I truly enjoy, especially now that I can share my stories with the world. Isn’t the Internet a wonderful thing? I’ve made friends from all over and, I suspect, now my readers/fans. I love you all!

I’m so thankful for the day I subbed to Evernight Publishing. They have a terrific staff and my editor, Emma Shortt, is awesome. And the cover art is to die for! Thank you Dara England of LF Designs. It’ll make a terrific poster for my home office, don’t you think? And thank you, Evernight, for taking a chance on this newbie. Words simply cannot express how thrilled I am to be one of your authors.

During the course of this past couple of years, I’ve spent a lot of time on Medical leave from my day job. I won’t bore you with the details of each ailment except to say that hand surgery is what motivated me to begin writing that novel of romance I’d always intended to try my hand at. (pun intended!)

I developed an infection in my thumb and by the time the doctors realized what it was, it had eaten away at the bone from the inside. Needless to say, they had to amputate so the infection didn’t spread. Everything I do involves the use of my hands, from typing to cooking, baking, gardening and even reading. It’s difficult to get used to holding a book open with half a thumb. Luckily, it was my left and I’m right-handed, but it still took some getting used to.

In trying to prepare for a return to work, I started typing. It helped to increase the flexibility in that hand and kept me from going stir crazy. At first, it was just online typing tests, but one day an idea began to take shape and I started writing. Seven weeks later I had finished Love on the Rocks, totally edited and polished to the best of my ability and began subbing to publishers. Boy, have I learned a lot since and have received many rejections for my efforts.

But I found that I really enjoyed writing – enjoyed the challenge of it, learning as I went. I’m still learning. Nobody’s perfect. I’ve since written seven other full-length novels and three novellas.

Zakia and the Cowboy is the first in my Thunder Creek series, with Books 2 and 3 in the works and ideas for 2 more. I enjoy crafting stories and it’s helps to keep my mind alive. There are so many ideas floating around in there that at least once I have them written down, they ease off and let me rest… sometimes. lol

My doctor has me off work indefinitely, but at least I have my writing to sustain me. Making money from it was never an impetus. Creating a believable story from nothing more than a vague idea – that’s what motivates me. The fact that people want to read my writing is a bonus, and one that I’m rather proud of. I love hearing from my readers and can be contacted by dropping a comment here or on my website. Tell me what you like or didn’t like about this book and I’ll enter all names in a draw for the sequel. http://lorrainenelson.weebly.com

*** P.S. When that first royalty cheque arrives, I’m certain I’ll find something to spend it on. 🙂
