New Release and Cover Reveal!

Published November 17, 2015 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

I just love releasing new books!

This is the fifth year that I’ve released a Christmas short for 99 cents, and although Once Upon a Christmas Wish is longer than the rest by 10000-15000 words, it’s still only 99 cents. 🙂 I just love this cover. It speaks to me of happiness and love. What do you think? Blurb:

Widowed mother, Christina Madison, is a work-from-home seamstress struggling to make ends meet in order to sup[port herself and her son. She finds it extra difficult during special occasions…like the upcoming holiday…Christmas.

Ethan Forrester is a man on a mission to find a twin brother he never knew he had. Instead, he finds his brother’s widow and little boy.

He never believed in love at first sight until he met Christina. But is her attraction to him because of the man he is? Or because he is identical to her deceased husband?

I hope you enjoy this Christmas story and that you all have a happy and blessed Christmas this year.

New Christmas Release!!!

Yay!!! Amazon came through! Her Christmas Wishes is now available online in Kindle format. Did I tell you that I set up this cover myself? Pretty gosh darned good, if I do say so. 🙂

Her Christmas Wishes 2Once I got the idea for this story, I dropped everything else and ran with, completing the story in about ten hours. The words flowed onto the page so fast that my fingers had a difficult time keeping up. Gotta love it when that happens. 🙂

I posted the blurb yesterday so I thought I’d post an excerpt today. It’s my wish that you’ll enjoy reading Her Christmas Wishes as much as I enjoyed writing it.

“Is something wrong?”
“No, for a change, I think everything is just right. You are one beautiful woman, but I suppose you’ve heard that plenty of times before.”
“Well, I guess a woman can’t hear a compliment too many times, but no, just my father and my foreman and I think they we’re prejudiced in my favor,” she said as she set their plates on the table.
“Believe them. They were right. You’re so beautiful and graceful, you take my breath away.”
“Wow! Now that’s a line! What would your wife say?” she said and  giggled as she walked to the counter, returned with their tea, and sat down.
“No line and no wife or girlfriend. Can’t find one that’ll have me with all the irregular hours I keep.” He picked up his sandwich and ate hungrily, washing it down with his tea.
“Really? What kind of work do you do?” she asked, her expression curious.
“I’m a writer,” he said, watching her closely.
She all but sputtered her food across the table.
“You’re that Spence Rafferty? The true crime writer? I’ve read all your books. No wonder your name sounded so familiar.”
Grinning at her reaction, he said, “Really? You’ve read them all?”
“All forty-two of them,” she stated.
“Soon to be forty-three. I just finished approving final edits before I left home. Would you like me to autograph your copies?”
“I’d love it!” she said. Then her face fell and the animation disappeared. “But they’re at the ranch house.”
“Well, they’re bound to clear the roads when the snow stops. How about I stop in at the ranch before heading home?” Although he dearly hoped the snow continued for a few more days. He loved being stranded with such charming company.
“Fantastic! Thank you.”
“And for being such a good hostess, how about I gift you an autographed copy of the new one when it’s released?”
Erica jumped to her feet and ran to him, throwing her arms around his neck in a big hug. “Thank you, Spence! Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
“Hey, it’s only a book,” he said, laughing as he wrapped his arms around her waist. “But if I’m going to get that reaction, I’ll gift you an autographed copy of every new release from now on.”
“You think I’m silly,” she said, her lips curled downward in a pretty pout as she leaned back.
“No. On the contrary. I love your enthusiasm,” he said, pulling her closer. “And I love the feel of you pressed up against me. I’ve been imagining you and me together from the moment you opened the door and let me in.”
“You have?”
He shifted their positions until she was sitting on his lap. “Yes, and I’ve also wanted to do this.” Very slowly, he lowered his head until his lips brushed her forehead in a brief kiss. “And this.” He nibbled on her ear. “And this.” He nuzzled her neck, sucking lightly on the exposed skin as she titled her head back.
“Yes, I’ve wanted this, too.”
The admission threw him for a minute. “You do?”
In answer, she kissed him full on the lips. It was a tender kiss, one of exploration, but he felt it clear to his toes and all points in between. He couldn’t help but deepen the kiss. This woman was HOT.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little teaser.

Cover Reveal for my 2014 Christmas Story!!!

Published October 19, 2014 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

I love Christmas! Do you? The purity of a fresh fall of snow, twinkling lights everywhere, home-baked goodies, families coming together, and peace and goodwill everywhere.

It gives me a good feeling when I write about people finding each other during the holidays. Their coming together seems so much sweeter. This year I have a special treat in store for you. It’s a bit steamier than my usual stories, but hey, what else is there to do when the power goes out and a fire is burning in the fireplace?

So, without further ado, here is this year’s cover. What do you think?

Her Christmas Wishes 2

Erica London needs some time alone to figure out if she should continue with the in vitro treatments. They haven’t worked so far. She really wants to have a baby and an heir to the ranch…to know he or she was on the way before Christmas. Of course, wishing for a man to love her and produce said baby would be wonderful, but that’s not about to happen. She rides over to the London Lodge, situated on the back-end of the London Ranch, to clean and close it down for the winter. A freak blizzard has her snowed in, but she doesn’t mind in the least. She has food, shelter, and wood fires to keep her warm. Besides, she enjoys not having the phone ringing or wranglers stopping in to chat.

Spencer Rafferty is on his way to his brother’s wedding when he takes a wrong turn and ends up on a side road. His car hits a nasty drift and barrels into the ditch. With no signal on his cell phone, he looks around and all he sees is white. He smells wood smoke but can’t determine where it’s coming from. Then, in a moment of clarity when the wind dies down, he sees the smoke and walks down the road toward it.

Erica opens the door with gun in hand, unsure whether or not to allow the stranger in. But the storm is a raging blizzard and she takes pity on him. When not covered in snow, she sees just how handsome the man is…and he’s not wearing a ring. When the power goes out, things heat up. Could this man be the one to make her wishes come true? Did she have it in her to embark on a weekend affair? And could she survive his leaving when the storm was over?

With a little luck and participation from Amazon, Her Christmas Wishes will release tomorrow at 99 cents in ebook form. I hope to have it available in print by November 1st.

Until next time, Happy Reading!

Sun Chara and a Giveaway!

Published September 6, 2014 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

It’s my pleasure to have Sun Chara visiting today. She’s been a friend since we met on the eHarlequin forums years ago. Please make her welcome and at the end of this post, make sure to leave a comment for your chance to win one of her sexy, new romances. 🙂

MANHATTAN MILLIONAIRE’S CINDERELLA – a short contemporary romance by Sun Chara.

Book Trailer

Will their wedding night be a one-night stand or a merger for keeps?
Global real estate mogul, Cade Sloan should’ve listened to his own advice: trust no one, and never a woman…especially not his 24 hour bride gone AWOL with his millions. Nina, mousy secretary turned sexy vixen, will repay every penny with interest…
When Cade gears up for a takeover, there’s sweet hell to pay. Nina owes her husband a wedding night and he’s hell bent on collecting… his way, his time, his pleasure.

Cade Sloan—Manhattan’s hotshot bachelor on the brink of bankruptcy.
Cade read the headline and hurled the newspaper into the trashcan, the
taunting words searing his brain. Prowling to and fro his high-rise office, he paused in stride and zoned in on his secretary, sitting ramrod straight, her fingers flying across the computer keyboard.

“Ms. McLow—” The words dissolved on his tongue, and he scratched his head. What was her name anyway?

“Ms. McLow—” He cleared his throat and tried again. “Ms.—”

“McLowsky.” She lifted a shapely brow and tossed him a glance through her coke-bottle thick lenses, a blush on her cheeks. “Nina McLowsky.”

Did she just click her tongue in disapproval? Just his luck. She came with attitude.

“Of course.” He swiped a finger around his shirt collar, and his chest tightened. “Nina McLowsky.” Scrambling to regroup, he seized the Coffee-mate from the counter and filled a cup with coffee.

She looked like she had walked out of a 1950’s Norman Rockwell painting, an epitome of diplomacy and efficiency. He stroked his throat, and then shook his head, amazed. He was actually flirting with the idea of a merger …with her.
At least with her, there’d be no emotional tantrums. The thought had him breaking out in a sweat. He never let any woman get close enough to
get a glimpse beneath the surface, to know what made him tick. ‘Never trust
a woman’ was his motto.

A cab horn blared amidst the congested traffic on Madison Avenue and ripped through his thoughts. He flinched in annoyance.

He hadn’t felt this bridled since he was a boy, and, he had vowed never to feel like this again. But he was running out of options. He had to score a mega hit or he was going to cave. Fast. And that rankled his pride.

“Here you go.” He plopped the coffee cup on her desk, and a huff of air burst from his mouth, ruffling a wisp at her temple.

She squinted at the steaming brew, then up at him, her baby blues all innocence and perplexity. “Thank you.”

His gut flexed. He frowned and dismissed the unsettling feeling. “Careful, it’s hot.”

She peered at him above her thick lenses, a hint of a smile on her mouth, her fingers never missing a beat. Maybe if he focused on the dimple on her cheek, he could go through with the transaction.

“Take a moment, Ms. McLowsky.” The smell of caffeine gave him a boost, and latching onto his own mug, he shot her his killer smile.

“Well…uh…” he began, words sticking in his throat. “Drink up.”

“Yes, sir.” She picked up the steaming cup, blew on the liquid and took a sip, fixing her gaze on him over the rim.

Was that a glint of amusement in her eyes?

She blinked and it was gone. “Is that it, sir?” She set the cup on the desk.

“No.” He lifted his mug to his lips, took a gulp of the black brew and scorched his tongue. He swore, a muffled sound. She heard and raised that well-defined eyebrow again. He tautened his abs iron-hard. “There’s a new position in the company.” He stepped closer and hitching up his jean-clad leg, propped his hip on the corner of her desk. “You’re the best match.”

“What is it?”

“A merger of sorts.”

At thirty-three, Cade was not averse to a challenge, it was the coercion
tactic he abhorred. His lifelong nemesis that he booted from the boardroom
tossed him a curve to the tune of three million—problem was—the deal included a stipulation to muzzle…er…marry him off.

Cade was under no illusions his uncle’s offer was iced with ulterior
motives, but in no position to refuse, he had to take the bait. A pittance, but it’d swing him from the red into the black, and buy him some time. He’d expand his global holdings, complete the mega development in Cyprus, triple his profits and—his heart turned to stone—catch the hacker embezzling company funds.
The con was about to demolish Cade into a heap of rubble.

ALL WRAPPED UP IN YOU – A Christmas novella romance by Sun Chara.

The fairytale busted! Their marriage hangs in the balance, but on this wind battered Christmas Eve, a miracle is born…
When Ellie hooked up with world renowned neurosurgeon, Peter Medeci, aka ‘Prince Charming’, she thought her dreams had come true. But the demands of being the model wife to his career triggers a mutiny within her and she decides to ditch the ‘royal’ life until he sees her as more than his bedroom playmate.

“Ninety-nine cents.” Ellie stood outside the Burbank Media Mall showcasing a Christmas broach in her gloved hand to shoppers rushing by. She kept a smile plastered on her face, offsetting desperation rising in her throat, and wiggled her foot, adjusting the cardboard patch over the hole in her boot.

It had been three weeks since she ditched Prince Charming and the ‘castle’. Had she made the right decision?

She replaced the broach in the basket, and scooped up the coins on the bottom. Two sales on Christmas Eve, not a good sign.

The Santa Ana winds sliced through her thin coat, numbing her flesh; a gust swayed the Palm trees lining the boulevard. She pulled the pink cap lower over her ears, glad she’d also worn the matching scarf.

“A dollar ninety-nine.” Ellie counted the money in her palm and a
tremor shot through her. What could she buy with the pennies in her hand? She rifled through the pockets of her coat to ensure she hadn’t missed any coins. Nope, she hadn’t.

She leaned against the street lamppost and heaved a breath. Air
frosted her lips. Her heart thudded, and she fisted her fingers, the coins grating in her palm. “I can’t return to the castle…and to him.”

But she had to get home…a laugh bubbled inside her, and she bashed it down before it erupted from her in a hysterical sound that’d have people gaping at her. She dropped the coins in her purse, and with her head slightly bent against the wind; she made her way to the bus stop, but stalled in step when a Porsche pulled up along side of her.

“Get in,” the driver commanded, his voice sending shimmers of awareness through her. “You’ll freeze waiting for the bus.”

“Ellie, don’t be obstinate,” he said, a ripple of impatience in his voice. “I’ll give you a lift home.”

An eerie silence ensued in the lull in the wind, and the melody sailed to her from the car radio. ‘Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la…’ She nearly snorted at the lyrics. Jolly… Huh!

Peter Medeci, M.D. The highly sought after neurosurgeon, the man of her dreams. The man that had given her everything except the one thing she wanted most…and that’s why she skipped out on him. To get close to him again would be self-destructive, but even as she reasoned, her body hummed with yearning.

“I’ll make my own way.” But as soon as the words were out of her mouth, she cringed; she didn’t even have enough for bus fare for the ten-mile ride to her North Hollywood mouse-hole.

“You will not.” She heard the car door open, and paused in step. “Get in before you make a scene.”

A new Christmas release by Lisa A. Adams

Published December 13, 2013 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Lisa Adams has been a friend of mine for some time now. I’ve watched her grow into a mighty fine author, as evidenced by her latest release, Saving Holiday. I was fortunate enough to receive a copy to review, and I couldn’t read it fast enough. Here’s my review:

Jackson Duggan portrays the type of man we’d all like to meet–handsome, intelligent, caring, protective, and ohhh so sexy–but  he’s carrying an old love deep in his heart and won’t let go.

Holiday (Holly) Thomas is a survivor. Badly abused in a previous relationship, she’s not anxious to enter another. Then in walks Jackson and her heart pumps into overdrive. But Holly isn’t in to being second best and walks away. When trouble ensues, Jackson’s there, ready to protect. But will he arrive in time?

A 5 Star read for sure!

Here’s the blurb:

Through a tortured past, Officer Jackson Duggan has learned a thing or two about saving lives. But can he overcome the tragedies of his past to save his very own “Holiday” present?

Holiday “Holly” Thomas has never lived down her name or the mistakes she’s made in her past. Desperate to run, she moves to Barbeque Creek to open up a new quilt shop and begin a new life.

When Officer Jackson Duggan entered Sew Amazing looking for the perfect present for his mother, he never thought he would find a gift waiting just for him. But, Jackson’s not ready to move on from a love he shared in the past.

With Holly sprinting toward her future and Jackson clinging to the past, will the pair stop long enough to enjoy the present? Or will a threat neither of them saw coming ruin the opportunity before they even get a chance?

And now for a few words from Lisa…

Looking at my ever-expanding waist line over the holiday season actually gave me some inspiration. Most people look at their curves and wish to be skinnier. When I was a teacher, I had a mantra that I would repeat to my 6th graders in hopes that they would pick up on some of my good vibes. If you were to ask them today to describe me, they would say one of two things: She was the craziest and most fun teacher I’ve ever had, or she was fat and happy. Yep, I said it. I’m fat and happy. I have no qualms with it either, simply because I LOVE the taste of food. (I blame it on being a Taurus.)

So what better way to celebrate my holiday release then sharing with you…

My Top 5 Holiday Treats!

# 5 – Sugar cookies – It doesn’t matter the brand, or if they were homemade or store bought. Sugar cookies will forever be on the list. Probably the simplest recipe ever for cookies, and easy to digest a dozen (or two J)

#4 – Brownies – Duncan Heinz please and I like mine fudgy not cakey. So hold the extra egg.

#3 – Apple Spice Bars – A fantastic Apple Spice cake type bar that has a myriad of spices, raisins, and pecans. Topped with a light coating of powdered sugar and, oh my, yum! The recipe that we still use today is from McCall’s Cook Book ©1963 1st edition. It was my grandmother’s and is VERY well used. Apple Spice Bars are featured on page 189. (Yes, I remember the page number by heart, though I don’t need the recipe anymore. It makes me feel good to pull it out every year and have it with me while baking these.)

#2 – Poppy Seed Rolls – These are very similar to an apple roll, but instead of apples and cinnamon, you would use a poppy seed paste. It used to be sold in Winn Dixie’s here in the south, but since they went bust, I have to rely on my yearly trips up north to find them in the SlavicVillage market in Ohio. And this explanation will help lead me to my #1 all time favorite.

#1 – Golden Kolacky – Ok. Let me continue explaining. I have a Polish background. My father was full-blooded and came to the states when he was 15. I was the first on his side of the family ever born in the states. We held tight to quite a few of our Polish customs, and this little gem is a testament to that fact.  Interested? Here you go…. From my family to yours.

½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup all-purpose flour

Fruit Preserves for filling

  1. Beat butter and cream cheese in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until smooth and fluffy.  Gradually add flour; beat at low speed until mixture forms soft dough.  Divide dough in half; wrap each half in plastic wrap.  Refrigerate about one hour or until firm.
  1. Preheat oven 375 F.  Roll out dough, half at a time, on floured surface to 1/8th thickness.  Cut into 2 ½ – inch squares.  Spoon 1 teaspoon preserve into center of each square.   Bring up two opposite side corners to center; pinch to seal.  Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake 10 to 13 minutes or until lightly browned.  Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday whatever your customs or beliefs may be. And while you are enjoying this sweet new treat, why don’t you check out my newest release “Saving Holiday” now available on Amazon.
