Contract is signed!

Published May 19, 2015 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

The Manning family is growing!

I’ve just signed the contract for the seventh book in my Thunder Creek Ranch series. Kidnapped: The Search for Casey will be released in July. Yay, Evernight Publishing! I’m so excited!

Here’s the unofficial blurb:

Six-year-old Casey Manning has been kidnapped!

His cousin, Lynne Kerrigan, and Private Investigator, Trent Erikson, join forces to search for him…a search that takes them beyond the Atlantic Ocean to war-torn Afghanistan. They spend several days and nights together as they travel across a foreign country full of danger while following the kidnappers’ trail.

They are hot for each other and as they spend time together, things get even hotter. She loves Trent and hopes to have children some day, but Trent has been down that road before and isn’t interested in marrying a second time. So once back on Canadian soil with a happy Casey in tow, Lynne sends Trent away, even though her heart is breaking.

Trent goes back to Vancouver but finds he cannot forget his fiery-haired beauty. Would he be the one to compromise? Or would Lynne wake up and realize they were living in the twenty-first century?

I can’t wait to see what the artist comes up with for a cover to this one. All my Evernight covers to date have been amazing. I’m planning two more books in this series, which will bring it to a close. And in case you may have missed them, below are the covers for previous books available at Evernight and all online retail outlets.

I’d have to say that Zakia and the Cowboy is my favorite of all the books I have published. Why? Because it was my debut novel and catapulted me into the role of published author. I love writing smart, sexy stories that relate to home and family. Here’s the blurb:

Now Available in Print!!!

Now Available in Print!!!

With a stalker following her every move, Zakia has no choice but to flee the city. Her options limited, she runs to the only place she’s ever felt safe…the Thunder Creek Ranch and her ex-husband, Lucas.

Will he protect Zakia from the stalker? And if he does will either of them be able to ignore the feelings that have simmered for so long, ready to explode… before danger either draws them together or pulls them apart. For an excerpt or reviews on this book, please visit my website.

Now, about that question…

Here’s a short excerpt to tease you:

She stood to follow him to the door, but found herself hauled up against his muscular chest as he treated her to another scorching kiss.

“Woman, you’re driving me crazy.”

Pushing away from him she asked, “Me? What did I do?”

“Now that I know what’s hidden under that robe, my hands are itching to peel it off you again.”

“What’s stopping you?” she said as she swiftly untied the sash, shrugged the robe off her shoulders and let it drop to the floor.

Just as fast was his reaction as he picked her straight up in the air and set her down on the counter. He chuckled in response to her shriek as the smooth, icy marble met her bare backside and she arched backward, supporting her weight on her hands. Quick to take advantage, he swooped in to devour her breasts with his hands and mouth.

Her legs wrapped around him of their own volition, urging him closer, closer…and then his cell phone rang.

He ceased ministering to her body and allowed his head to rest in the valley of her newly sensitized orbs. She ran her fingers through his hair, a touch on the long side for a man in his profession, her actions serving to hold him against her.

“I have to go,” he mumbled against her skin.

“I know.”

“We’ll finish this later,” he said, promise inherent in his words.

“Okay.”

He lifted his head and covered her mouth with his, their tongues mating, creating their own magic as they thrust and parried, suckled and withdrew. His hands cupped her buttocks as he lifted her and set her on her feet.

“This is the first time that I allowed anything or anybody to come between me and my job. What kind of spell have you cast over me?” he teased.

“Not a strong enough one, apparently.” Then seeing his confusion, she added, “You’re only human. The job isn’t the sum total of who you are as a man.”

“Maybe not, but I’ve measured myself by it for a long time.”

“Then maybe you were due for a change.” She smoothed his hair back into place with her hands.

“You could be right. We’ll discuss this later. Right now, I have to see how Rob is and if forensics found anything downstairs, then I’ll have them come up here.” His eyes traveled the length of her body as he spoke. “Better get some clothes on or I won’t be the only one who knows your secret.”

“What secret?”

“That you are indeed a true redhead.”

********

So my question for you is…

Which of my novels is this excerpt from?

New Release! Cameron’s Quest from Evernight!

Published April 16, 2013 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Book 5 is finally here! Yay!!!

In honor of this prestigious event, I thought I’d provide a brief recap of books and blurbs leading up to this one.

ZATC_SMFirst up is Zakia and the Cowboy, the book that started it all. 🙂

Next, we have Blake Northrup and Samantha Muldoon in Covert Mission: Undercover Cop. CovertMission_SM

Two cops have been murdered, two convicts escape. Samantha Muldoon and Blake Northrup pair up to protect their friends.

Will their attraction to each other hinder their effectiveness and distract them from their job? Can it grow into something lasting, or will previous hurt keep them apart?

In Book 3 I shared the story of Lucas Manning, Sr. and his wife Winnie in Trouble Brewing in Thunder Creek.

TBITC_SM

Lucas Manning, Sr. is married to Winnie, Roy Grayson’s mother. Trouble ensues from the moment authorities arrest her son for stalking and terrorizing Lucas’ daughter-in-law. Winnie feels guilty and withdraws from the Manning family. Suddenly a threatening phone call disturbs their lives even more as Winnie becomes a target. Can Lucas convince her of her worthiness and save their marriage? Or will danger and loyalty to her son drive a further wedge between them?

In Book 5, Luke’s sister Leah returns home in A Cowgirl’s Pride.ACP-S

Leah Manning grew up among so many domineering, protective males that it left her frustrated, longing for a different life. Her family couldn’t, or wouldn’t, understand that she needed to dance, and she’d lived away for several years. Unknowing, she’d embroiled herself in a deadly game from which there seemed no way out. Now she was home. Would they welcome her back? What if trouble followed? Most importantly, did Cal still work the ranch?

Brian Calhoun, Cal to his friends, had hated Leah when she’d left, but hated himself even more for not going after her. Now she was back and more lovely than ever. Would his adolescent love for her return, develop into something more, or die a slow death at the hands of this new Leah?

Trouble does follow Leah home, and her ex will stop at nothing—even murder—to silence her. Will the terror draw them closer together or drive them apart forever?

And all this has brought us to Cameron Manning’s story, Book 5 in the series. Thank you for helping me celebrate the release of Cameron’s Quest. 🙂

Camerons-Quest.sm

Cameron Manning has never forgotten his first love. Of Irish descent, he met red-haired, fiery tempered Lacey Kerrigan in England, but her family returns to Ireland unexpectedly and they haven’t any means of contact. He finds her and receives the surprise of his life.

Lacey is thrilled to see Cameron, but is afraid of being hurt again. She keeps her distance and rebuffs his advances while he’s in Ireland, certain that a long distance affair will never work. But when tickets arrive for her to visit his home in Canada, she realizes his love is true and is willing to give them a second chance.

Fate intervenes when they find a murdered man on Cameron’s back deck. All evidence points to Cameron as the killer. Can their reawakened love survive the stress of a murder investigation? Or will it be the catalyst that drives them apart forever?

I’m celebrating this release just a little different than what I’ve done in the past. Some friends are joining me for a one day, blogging, tweeting, FB blitz. Why? Because I don’t want to prolong the agony. LOL

Join us at the blogs listed below and leave your comments at each one. There are excerpts, reviews, character interviews and more. On April 18th, I will pick two winners to receive a free download from my Thunder Creek Ranch series. Winner’s choice. 🙂 The more blogs you comment on, the more chances you have to win. Have fun and thanks again for joining in the celebration. ❤ you all!

Writing…a busy life!

Published July 15, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Tomorrow is my birthday!

Now, at my age, you don’t normally broadcast the fact, but I’ve earned every one of my gray hairs. LOL Although, I must say, my life is more fulfilling since I started writing again. This birthday I actually want to celebrate and I’m doing so by presenting a little surprise to my readers.

Evernight Publishing has agreed to let me hold a one day sale. That’s right! Tomorrow, July 16th, all four Thunder Creek Ranch books are on sale for only $1.99 each! That’s quite a savings! So if you’ve started the series, or are wanting to read about my sexy cowboys, tomorrow is the time to buy. This is my way of saying thank you to each and every one of you who have supported me on this journey. I love you all! I’m currently working on Book 5 of my Thunder Creek Ranch series and hope to submit it for publication soon.

I’ve been so busy writing, editing, promoting, writing, editing, and promoting, that I hardly have time to breathe these past few months. On top of that, I blog, try to keep my website up to date, and edit for others.

Bad Boy Blake is finally finished and subbed to Ruby Lioness Press. Next up, I have a trilogy to write for RLP, contracted on proposal. Not sure I like writing to a deadline, but I’ll see how it pans out.

I also won a pitch with Harlequin Intrigue and the editor requested a partial. It’s almost ready to go. Fingers crossed. They have a terrific distribution system and guaranteed sales. 🙂

Blessed Homecoming is my 9th release since Oct/2011. I also have releases in August, September, and November, plus Book 5 and maybe 6 in there somewhere for my TCR series with Evernight.

The Hudson trilogy is scheduled for release in Jan, March, and May, 2013, with the print edition of Bad Boy Blake also releasing in May.

Add to that, school’s out and my oldest grandson is allowed to visit more. Love him dearly, but when he’s here, he’s MY boy, wanting all of Grandmom’s attention. He just turned 8 and we had a party for him Friday.

So life won’t be slowing down for me anytime soon. Wish me luck and don’t forget to follow my virtual blog tour for a chance to win Blessed Homecoming, my first inspirational romantic suspense.

Edits!!!

Published March 9, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

As you know, if you’ve been following my blog, website, Facebook or Twitter accounts, I signed 5 contracts in January. Since January 30th I’ve completed 12 rounds of edits. Yep, 12! Three titles are completely done. Yay!

Coming March 16th!

Hawk’s Woman, my first western historical, is releasing March 16th in the Evernight anthology entitled Virgins Behaving Badly.

Coming March 26th!

A Cowgirl’s Pride, Book 4 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series, is releasing on March 26th.

Breathless Press has signed on for 4 titles. Her Unlikely Bodyguard is edited and ready for release on June 15th. The 1st round edits on Blessed Homecoming, my first inspirational, are finished and I’m waiting for the next round. Then it’s on to Love on the Rocks, a romantic suspense, and Finding Baby J, a medical romance.

At first, I considered edits to be a nuisance, a necessary evil. LOL But I’ve learned so much through my lovely editors, that now I consider them, the editors and the edits, a blessing. Their input has made for a much more detailed and interesting read in every case.

I love dialogue! When I get into the heads of my characters, or them in mine as the case often happens, I enjoy writing up their conversations. Unfortunately, I forget about everything else when that happens, but my editors are quick to remind me about all 5 senses. It’s not enough to know what they’re saying. What are they seeing, feeling, touching, smelling, doing while they talk? Or tasting…my characters enjoy eating. lol

Then there is the comma guru. Since I obtained my business education back in 1980, someone up and changed some of the rules of comma usage. Not sure when that happened, but I’m learning, slow but sure, and hoping my editors don’t pull their hair out in the meantime. So far, they haven’t run away screaming, so it’s all good. 🙂

Sometimes I disagree with them and have to question the why of things, but in the end, we compromise and carry on. I love my editors! Emma Shortt, Dana Horbach, and Tara Chevrestt. They know how to draw every ounce of love and suspense out in the open, which makes for a much better, more saleable novel.

I’m living my dream, and with the support of editors, publishers, and most importantly, my readers, it makes all the hard work worthwhile. I can work from home, at my own pace, crafting beautiful, believable stories of romance and suspense. For me, life couldn’t get any better.

So, until my next set of edits arrive, I’ll be writing Cameron’s Quest, Book 5 of my Thunder Creek Ranch series. He’s been screaming at me to get his story told…a story of secrets unveiled, family love and loyalty, and murder. Hoping to have it written, subbed, and edited for a May release. Time will tell.

In the meantime, I’d like to thank you all for your support.

Happy Reading and Writing!
