Love on the Rocks_hires

Love on the Rocks is set near my hometown in New Brunswick, Eastern Canada. Love on the Rocks came to life after a medical emergency required therapy. n an effort to regain the flexibility in my left hand, I began typing. I practiced with typing tests and such but soon got bored. The inkling of an idea began running through my mind, and I went with it. Seven weeks later, Love on the Rocks was edited and ready to go. This romantic suspense has been a favorite for many readers. It begs the question…What would you do to protect your child and keep him or her safe.

On the run from an abusive ex-boyfriend, Sara has exhausted all avenues of hope. Although her landlady has been great, she’d received an eviction notice and had to relocate in two days. Knowing she’d have to live out of her car and with winter fast approaching, it was no life for an infant. She wanted more for her child. In desperation, she comes up with a plan.

And so begins this story full of drama, heartbreak, renewed hope, and love. A good, clean read for your enjoyment. 🙂

Here is what readers are saying:

“Ms. Nelson, with her trademark skill in creating romantic suspense filled with unforgettable characters and smooth-flowing dialogue, beautifully builds bonds of love between Sara and the book’s hero. The plot will instantly hook you and keep the pages turning. And the book contains a surprising twist I totally didn’t anticipate. An excellent read all around.” M. Fayard

“There was a lot of suspense in this book. It seemed wherever Sara went suspense followed. This was a well written book and I enjoy reading books by this author!” Angie

Love on the Rocks begins and ends at The Rocks, one of my favorite places. The ebook is my gift to you today. Free for one day only, so grab it quick. 🙂

Love on the Rocks_hires

The Rocks at Hopewell Cape are about a forty-five minute drive from my house. It’s a beautiful spot to catch at low tide. You can walk down the cliff face with the aid of stairs and stroll the beach at your leisure. My kids always loved to explore the caves and run in and out and around the rock formations formed by the high tides. I haven’t been there in the past few years due to health reasons, but it’s a special place. I love it and hope to be able to make the trip next year.

Blurb:

When Sara attempts to save her infant daughter, she may also be escaping a fate worse than an abusive boyfriend…she may be running away from true love. The big question is: Which man will find her first?

Sara Compton, normally strong, independent, and fun-loving, is deeply distressed at having to abandon her baby, but she has neither money nor home and is hiding from an abusive and obsessive ex-boyfriend. The only way to keep her child safe is to give her up.

Anthony Jacobs has sworn off women due to a previous relationship gone sour. He finds the child, takes her home, and arranges care for her. When he places a public call for a nanny and a lovely woman arrives who seems to have a rapport with the abandoned baby, he hires her on the spot.

Sara is fraught with guilt and tension at the possibility of being found out. What will Anthony think of her if—or when—he finds out the truth? To add to her worries, trouble arises in the form of Sara’s ex-boyfriend, who appears on the scene with custody papers in hand. She makes a hasty escape, her daughter in tow, but in the process of avoiding the evil Elliot Saunders, is she leaving behind her one true love?

I hope you enjoy Love on the Rocks. Download it with my blessing. And if you have the time, Please leave your review on Amazon. Thank you.

Blessed Homecoming…A sweet romantic suspense.

Wendy Danforth is preparing to be a single mom, her ex-husband in jail for spousal abuse. She returns home to Riverton, New Brunswick, only to be caught off guard by the handyman in residence. Attraction hits, swift and piercing, but she quells her unruly emotions. With one bad relationship behind her, she’s in no hurry to get involved in another. Besides, at almost nine months pregnant, she wasn’t exactly looking her best.

Jake Roberts, hired to renovate the Danforths’ house, took one look at his employer’s daughter and wanted to run far and fast. He hadn’t been around a pregnant woman in three long years, not since his wife and unborn son died in an auto accident. But when her ex-husband escapes custody, he steps up to protect Wendy and her unborn child.

Her Unlikely Bodyguard…Heat level 2, romantic suspense

A stalker who wants revenge…a past flame rekindled…Jemma Leigh’s summer just got interesting.

***

Jemma Leigh Harding has drawn the attention of an unknown stalker and returns to her hometown of Somerville, a safe haven—or so she thinks—on the east coast of Canada.

Theodore Garrity is the last person she expects to see, considering how easily he walked away from her after graduation to join the army.

Their past history involves secrets Jemma Leigh is hesitant to share. When it becomes clear the stalker has followed her home, Teddy becomes her unlikely bodyguard. Will the terror and past hurts separate them forever? Or will love blaze a fresh path for their future?

Finding Baby J…A sweet romance with a little heat.

One lonely woman, a doctor afraid of commitment… Will finding Baby J help them heal each other?

Shana Davis knows what it’s like to be unloved and unwanted. Her childhood involved being shuffled from one foster home to the next. One night, as her shift at Mercy hospital comes to an end, she hears a forlorn, mewling sound and finds a newborn baby boy left in a dumpster. The abandoned baby appeals to her soft heart and her immediate attachment to the child—dubbed Baby J—leads to her spending a lot of time in the Maternity Ward in the company of the handsome Dr. Daniels.
Dr. Kagan Daniels is heart-sore and commitment-shy due to his failed marriage and past experiences with selfish, cold-hearted women. But he sees a gentle, caring soul in Shana and is drawn to her. Despite his reservations, he realizes he wants to get to know her better and finds excuses to spend time in her company.
Having always wanted to be a daddy, Kagan adopts Baby J. As he and Shana grow closer, Shana feels she’s found her own private heaven. She has Baby J and the man of her dreams. What more could a woman want?
But a conniving woman, a manipulative mother, and a man from Shana’s past threaten to come between them. Will the lies spewed by others separate them forever? Or can their love win out over all?

And the best part is…they will be available in print. Yay! Will be back on Amazon as soon as I can get them there. Still recovering from major surgery, so time at my desk is limited. Thank you for your time, understanding, and support. Love you all!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Published October 5, 2014 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Today is my third birthday as a published author and I’m sitting here wondering what to write about. LOL Now, that’s not exactly true.

Now Available in Print!!!

Now Available in Print!!!

I want to thank you…my readers, my fans. In three short years I’ve released 23 titles. Your feedback has kept me going and I love that I can entertain you with my stories of romance and suspense. I can remember my debut release, Zakia and the Cowboy, Book 1 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series, and how you catapulted it to

bestseller status in just two days. I was thrilled with the reviews and the comments I received from you. I’m now working on Book 7  in the series and if someone had told me three years ago that the series would still be ongoing today, I don’t think I would’ve believed it. 🙂 I love the Manning family and the bonds they’ve formed. They look out for each other and that’s how family should be.

Other books in this series:

The Inheritance

My Hudson Ranch family is different in that it features three brothers facing insurmountable odds to receive their inheritance. The first book, The Inheritance, is a short lead-in to the series. I’m pleased to note that my sister, Sharon Wilson-Dupuis, drew these four gorgeous covers. The detail she puts into her work is amazing.

And of course, I have single titles (Including Christmas titles) available. 🙂 Please feel free to visit my website and browse through the titles. There are blurbs, excerpts, and reviews listed there as well as purchase links.

Or visit my Author Page on Amazon. An easy link to all my books.

So, once again I thank you and look forward to hearing from you.

Writing ups and downs

Published January 18, 2013 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Wow! The New Year has started off with a bang. So far, I’ve received two rejections, one revise and resub, and one acceptance. It sure keeps you on your toes. LOL

I’ve learned the hard way that what doesn’t work for one publisher can and will work for another. Luckily, perseverance is one of my strong points. 🙂 One says too much dialogue, another says not enough. One says my hero is too strong, another says he’s not strong enough. You know what I say? I write what I write the way it feels right to me. Give me a contract and an editor to work with, and I just might see things your way.

It’s not that I’m hard to get along with. Those who know me tell me I’m easy…to work with at least. 🙂 But when you put your heart and soul into a novel, it’s difficult to make changes. Now this revise and resub is from Harlequin American. The editor gave me some great feedback to work with, info specific to my novel, Suited to be a Cowboy, not a general “this _?__ doesn’t work for me” type of thing. So yes, I’m working furiously to ‘get it right.’ This is the closest I’ve gotten to being published with them, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll make this story the best I can.

At the same time, I’m working on Cameron’s Quest, Book 5 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series. I know. It’s late. But Cam has been giving me a bit of a problem and I’ve had to set it aside several times to fulfill other obligations. LOL Add to Cam’s story a fiery Irish redhead, well, sparks fly and life does get interesting. This is a story of second chances, of a lost love found, family values, bonding…and murder. Anyone who’s visited Thunder Creek is aware of the Manning family and how protective they are of those they love. Cam’s story is the same in that respect, but oh, so very different.

My Nano project for 2011 was Benjamin, the first in my Hudson Ranch Trilogy for which my sister, Sharon Wilson-Dupuis, is drawing the covers. That’s right, folks. I Hudson Coverwill have superb, original covert art for my Hudson boys. Here’s a quick mock-up we did to give you an idea. See the minute detail she puts into her work? I couldn’t draw a straight line with a ruler glued to the page, but then, she doesn’t have the imagination I do for crafting stories either. It’s a win, win situation for both of us and something we’ve always said we would do from the time we were kids.

Now, I have a question for you…

All right, 2 questions…

The Hudson brothers, Benjamin, Gabriel, and Nathan, inherit a ranch from their estranged father. Would you be interested in hearing the father’s tale? Would you like to know up front exactly why Zackariah Hudson finally located his sons? The trilogy novels (as ebooks) will be priced at $3.99 each or thereabouts, according to word count, but Zackariah’s story would be a prologue of sorts, which we would release first. It would be of novella length, 5-10,000 words, and available in ebook form for 99 cents. We will also be releasing the Hudson Ranch series in print. The original cover art alone makes them keepers, but I’m hoping you’ll enjoy these stories of romantic suspense enough to want to read them again and again. 🙂

***Tentatively scheduled for Spring, 2013.***

So again, here are my questions…

Would you be interested in hearing the father’s tale?

Would you like to know up front exactly why and how Zackariah Hudson finally located his sons?

New Release!!! Love on the Rocks!!!

Published August 10, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

This book is special to me in that it’s the first novel I wrote for adults and it takes place near my hometown. It’s undergone a few revisions since the first draft in early 2009, but it’s a story I’m very proud of. The Rocks at Hopewell Cape, NB, is a terrific place to visit. I’m going back there again soon.

Excerpt:

“Since you slaved away to prepare such a feast, I insist on doing the washing up.”
“What? No beeper?” Caroline chided.

“Not tonight. Guess I was too tired to arrange a get-a-way. I’ll have to do better tomorrow,” Anthony said with a wink and a chuckle.Picking up Charity, she shot back, saying, “That figures. Oh, well, I’ll enjoy tonight’s respite and take our little princess upstairs to get her cleaned up. What do you think of that, sweetheart?”
“Fine with me,” Anthony answered unexpectedly, then must have caught himself because he turned back to look at them as Caroline erupted into laughter. “Uh, you weren’t talking to me just then, were you?” he asked sheepishly.

“No, but you sure do look good in red,” she quipped, giggling at his embarrassment as she went on her way.
Anthony could hear her giggles as she went up the back stairs. To his astonishment, he had truly enjoyed thinking she’d called him ‘Sweetheart,’ and it had seemed so natural, too.

Oh, boy! Am I ever in big trouble, he told himself as he realized he’d fallen head over heels for the woman. What am I going to do now? How do I find out if she feels the same without bringing on a sexual harassment suit? Why did she have to be Charity’s nanny…an employee…and a darn good one at that! He didn’t want to scare her into running away. Think, Anthony! Think! He knew he’d figure out something. He’d just have to play it by ear and take a chance when the opportunity arose.
