Writing…a busy life!

Published July 15, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Tomorrow is my birthday!

Now, at my age, you don’t normally broadcast the fact, but I’ve earned every one of my gray hairs. LOL Although, I must say, my life is more fulfilling since I started writing again. This birthday I actually want to celebrate and I’m doing so by presenting a little surprise to my readers.

Evernight Publishing has agreed to let me hold a one day sale. That’s right! Tomorrow, July 16th, all four Thunder Creek Ranch books are on sale for only $1.99 each! That’s quite a savings! So if you’ve started the series, or are wanting to read about my sexy cowboys, tomorrow is the time to buy. This is my way of saying thank you to each and every one of you who have supported me on this journey. I love you all! I’m currently working on Book 5 of my Thunder Creek Ranch series and hope to submit it for publication soon.

I’ve been so busy writing, editing, promoting, writing, editing, and promoting, that I hardly have time to breathe these past few months. On top of that, I blog, try to keep my website up to date, and edit for others.

Bad Boy Blake is finally finished and subbed to Ruby Lioness Press. Next up, I have a trilogy to write for RLP, contracted on proposal. Not sure I like writing to a deadline, but I’ll see how it pans out.

I also won a pitch with Harlequin Intrigue and the editor requested a partial. It’s almost ready to go. Fingers crossed. They have a terrific distribution system and guaranteed sales. ūüôā

Blessed Homecoming is my 9th release since Oct/2011. I also have releases in August, September, and November, plus Book 5 and maybe 6 in there somewhere for my TCR series with Evernight.

The Hudson trilogy is scheduled for release in Jan, March, and May, 2013, with the print edition of Bad Boy Blake also releasing in May.

Add to that, school’s out and my oldest grandson is allowed to visit more. Love him dearly, but when he’s here, he’s MY boy, wanting all of Grandmom’s attention. He just turned 8 and we had a party for him Friday.

So life won’t be slowing down for me anytime soon. Wish me luck and don’t forget to follow my virtual blog tour for a chance to win Blessed Homecoming, my first inspirational romantic suspense.

New Cover Art from Evernight!

Coming Soon From Evernight!

It’s hard to believe that less than 5 months ago I was still an unpublished author. So much has happened since then, and I find it all so exciting! Even the edits excite¬†me; the editor’s insights often helping to fine tune my work into a richer, deeper, more suspenseful, and sometimes hotter, story.

I’m even learning how to successfully promote my work. LOL (Read: Becoming a Facebook addict. )

My journey as a published author began on October 5th, 2011, with the release of Zakia and the Cowboy, Book 1 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series. It became an ARe Bestseller and Featured Title within 3 days of its release. It also won Book of the Month at TBR, a major review site, in December.

October 13th saw my first effort at self-publishing hit Amazon with my novella, His Christmas Wish, and it has done really well. It’s a sweet romance and at $.99, a real bargain.

Mistletoe & Mr. Hoe became available for sale on November 15th through Amazon. I offered this one as a¬†free read over Christmas to thank my readers, and an astounding 2,491 copies were downloaded in 5 days! I hope everyone enjoyed it. ūüôā

Book 2 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series, Covert Mission: Undercover Cop, released on November 28th, with Book 3, Trouble Brewing in Thunder Creek, following on January 6th.

I’m honored that one of my shorts was accepted. Hawk’s Woman, a¬† western historical short,¬†will be¬†included in¬†the Evernight anthology, Virgins Behaving Badly, scheduled for a March release.

Now it’s almost time for Book 4, A Cowgirl’s Pride. First round edits have been completed and returned and¬†cover art received. I love my cowboys, but I really like this cover! It speaks of romance, suspense, and ranch life.¬†Sour Cherry Designs did a great job on this one.

I’m¬†totally excited about the release of A Cowgirl’s Pride. Luke’s sister, Leah, returns¬†to the ranch, pregnant and alone. I truly enjoyed telling her story. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it just as much. ūüôā Hoping for a March release. I’ll keep you posted.

Breathless Press contracted 3 of my novels in January. Her Unlikely Bodyguard, releasing in June; Blessed Homecoming, due out in July, and Love on the Rocks, scheduled for August.

Somewhere in there will be Cameron’s Quest, Thunder Creek Ranch Book 5. I’m still uncertain¬†whether to end the series there, or keep it going. There are plenty more ideas rolling around in my brain, so maybe I’ll keep writing until¬†they play themselves¬†out. LOL

So,¬†by August this will make 11 books released in 10 months. It wouldn’t make sense or be worth anything at all if not for my readers and the feedback I’ve received. Thank you for enjoying my work enough to ask for more! You’re helping to make a lifelong dream come true! Love you all!

Happy New Year!!!

Published January 1, 2012 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

2011 was a

fabulous year!

Four books released in 3 months, excellent ratings and plenty of emails from readers wanting more. As an author, I couldn’t¬†be any happier at the turn my life has taken. Thank you, Evernight¬†Publishing, for taking a chance on me; to¬†Emma Shortt¬†and Dana Horbach, for your excellent editing skills; to Dara England, for creating such beautiful covers;¬†to my readers, who continue to express their satisfaction with my books; and to my friends and family for their unending support. Love you all.

The year ended with my debut novel, Zakia and the Cowboy, being nominated for Book of the Month at the To Be Read Pile. What an honor for a newbie! Have you voted yet? http://thetbrpile.weebly.com/

On Dec. 31st I also received a 4 Star review for Thunder Creek Ranch, Book 2, Covert Mission: Undercover Cop. Stop by and comment for your chance to win a copy. http://thetbrpile.weebly.com/1/post/2011/12/review-and-contest-covert-mission-by-lorraine-nelson.html

On January 6th, Trouble Brewing in Thunder Creek, Book 3 in the series, will be released by Evernight. A great start to a new year.

Featuring Lucas Sr. and his wife Winnie, this book is different in that it features divided loyalties which cause trouble in their marriage. Come join them and read about how they overcome them to reach their HEA again.

   My Christmas releases,

   His Christmas Wish and

   Mistletoe & Mr. Hoe,

have both done well on Amazon.

Book 4, A Cowgirl’s Pride, is almost ready to submit and Book 5, Cameron’s Quest, is begging to be told.

On a more personal note, December 31st saw the arrival of my newest grandchild, a beautiful baby girl, Jayda. That makes four grandsons and two granddaughters for me. Yay! A terrific finale for 2011!

Now, this is the point when I should be stating my goals for 2012! LOL Other than writing, losing weight, writing, quitting smoking, and writing some more,¬†I need to be more active…difficult to do with a knee giving out on me all the time. But I will try my best to persevere. Of course, that means time away from my computer and the characters that demand I tell their story. Hmmm. Perhaps a bit of compromise¬† is in order here. Oh well,¬†I have all year to figure it out. ūüôā

Have a wonderful New Year! May 2012 bring you rich blessings, true friendships, abundant good health and happiness, and most of all, love.

Thank you all for being part of my life.

The Writing Life

Published December 11, 2011 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Book 4 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series, A Cowgirl’s Pride,¬†is one of those books that seem to be writing itself. The characters are speaking to me and the words are flowing faster than I can type. lol Gotta love it when that happens. I only started it a couple weeks ago and today I reached the halfway mark.

Book 3, Trouble Brewing in Thunder Creek,¬†was written, subbed and accepted during Nano, but I don’t have a release date, as yet. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of my cover. Wondering how Dara can possibly top the first two. ūüôā I have no doubt she will, though. That girl is amazing!

Zakia and the Cowboy & Covert Mission: Undercover Cop are both 30 day bestsellers in Romantic suspense at Bookstrand. http://www.bookstrand.com/catalog/209/romanticsuspense?sortBy=bestSelling30

Only 2 days left to get 15% off your purchase of Book 2, Covert Mission: Undercover Cop at Evernight. A great Christmas gift for anyone who likes to read.  Easily downloads to your PC or ereader. http://www.evernightpublishing.com/covert-mission-undercover-cop-by-lorraine-nelson/

Christmas is coming! Check out my Holiday titles at Amazon. Now on sale. http://www.amazon.com/Lorraine-Nelson/e/B005XMAYFQ/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1

In other news, Harlequin is holding a pitch contest in January for their Romantic Suspense line…right up my alley, if I can get one written in time to enter. ūüôā They upped the word count to 70-75k. That’s longer than any book I’ve written to date. Should be interesting. If you write romantic suspense, you can find details on the pitch here: http://community.harlequin.com/forums/write-stuff/editor-pitch-challenge-harlequin-romantic-suspense

Happy writing and best of luck!

New Release!

Published November 15, 2011 by Lorraine Nelson - Author

Today I finished editing and setting up Mistletoe & Mr. Hoe, a full-length Christmas novel at 58,000 words. I did up my own cover for it (simple but effective), uploaded¬†the file¬†to Amazon and, glory of glories, already have my page. ūüôā Please be warned, sexual content.

Official Blurb:

‚ÄėMaster Baker and Owner of Toy Shop work together to create a little Christmas cheer for the town’s orphans.’

Simon Hoe left his wealthy upbringing behind to put some real distance between himself and childhood tragedy, never letting his emotions past the wall he‚Äôs formed around his heart. A master baker, he owns and operates ‚ÄėSimple Simon‚Äôs Pie Shop.‚Äô¬†

Noelle Parsons survived her lonely foster care childhood only to have her one attempt at happily ever after end in disaster when she discovered her fianc√© and best friend making plans to elope.¬† She moves to Parson City, where she opens ‚ÄėWinter Wonderland Toys & Crafts‚Äô.¬† Noelle enjoys everything Christmas, sees another lost soul in Simon, and tries to convince him he has every right to believe and to enjoy life, holidays and all. She despairs of ever breaking through the barriers he’s erected. Will their attraction to each other fizzle and die? Or can they work through their hurts and differences to find happiness?

I love writing and getting books out there to entertain my readers. Christmas is such a special season filled with love and joy. This is my way of bringing a little of it into your lives. I hope you enjoy!
